Will be locked but can be unlocked quite easily either through O2 (via Liverman) or through various sites.

You will be back with the 9000

I am considering this but I need to know how well it will work on Vodafone and how it differs from a Vodafone 8800? While I can't stand Blackberries I have to support them at work (Vodafone 8800) so I'm considering this one to use myself to get more familiar with them.

How much is unlocking likely to cost?

Thanks,
John

Well, it's just I need it to be similar as I need to be a bit more familiar with the device - I always look a bit daft using them as it takes me ages to find anything. Need to do some more research on unlocking, 50 dollars is a bit much.

It's not unlocking that needs to occur with a blackberry. Each handheld provisioned by a carrier (in this case o2) is "latched" to the carrier. Even unlocking the handset to support another sim card will not data enable the device regardless of the sim card and service. The unique PIN also has been unlatched from the original provisioned network and then it can be assigned to the new carriers GPRS/EDGE data service through BIS/BES.

I am interested in the 8800.. any guide on price?

Sorry to intrude Darren on this however, unlocking this device would be sufficient and the unlatching will happen automatically when the seller assigned his newer Blackberry to his BIS account and therefore rendering the 8800 for use elsewhere.

The unlatching issue only becomes a problem if the seller does not close his BIS account or does not replace the Blackberry.

Free BUMP.

This is a good buy

I decided just to go for a Vodafone one straight up, apologies for taking up your time.

Good luck with the sale.
