I don't think there are many providers of IM for My Friends. They seem to have given up but Yamigo might be a good place to start.

What on earth are you going on about?
It wasn't created by SE alone, it was a project that most mobile companies and messenging services collaborated on for the benefit of the user. It just needs a third party client to provision it.
Look up IMPS on wikipedia for more info if you can be bothered.
