One highly essential thing that people sometimes barely knew was the heart and brain of the device - the CPU. Every applications ranging from 3D games, business tools, hardware drivers and so on do use the processing provided by the CPU in order to run on their highly featured phones those software-related features.
Another essential thing that contributes for the best visuals was the graphics processor or GPU which accelerates 3D graphics and renders higher definition video and audio.
So this thread is highly dedicated on those tiny chips found inside our phone's core. the main topic as you read above talks about the mobile phone CPUs. currently i will highlight the market's top of the line CPUs which will be found on the next-gen phones on near future

IMHO,these arent the uP's that is going to be used in next gen phones (maybe TI 34xx for niche phones next year, may become mainstream in 2009)..
The like of freescale, qualcomm, broadcom,STM are the ones going to flood the market. |

Good to see some technical info about the "engines" under the hood.
Maybe all knowledgeable ppl could start with manufacturer\\series\\pocessor posts. I would find it interesting after few years to see one timeline here @ esato.
Just a tought tho.. |
