Sounds about right, in my experience they are pretty useless. GBA is wicked but not much use as a PDA?!

Good marketing and image, but in reality they struggle in staff training with most of the other High Street sellers that have high churn of staff turnover.

At the weekend one of the assistants were pushing the HBH-30 which they were selling at 150GBP. That's 20GBP more than anyone else (neglecting to mention that it's replacement the HBH-60 would be out in the New Year) and that the Motorola Bluetooth headset (which he was quick to fault) was a full 50GBP cheaper due to a promotion (until I quizzed him on the prices).

He could only mention that the HBH-30 was more suited to work with a T68i, but he couldn't give me specific examples as to why that would be (technically). He would have been better off not mentioning it if he didn't know.

Not really expert advice, or even impartial advice - not when his comission is at stake!

I`ve been advised that CPW don`t get commision, also the brochers often have missleading info, but CPW will price match,so i could argue that they are no dearer than other high street stores, also it`s a little known fact that on o2 for example, if you buy a phone on a tarrif with off peak bundle the wap calls are included, but buy the same deal at an o2 shop or phones4u & wap calls are not included in your free bundle, also CPW don`t have a min charge per call like the other two do because they use a different billing structure, these hidden differances are currently under investigation by Oftel, but they are still doing it, o2 users often don`t notice because they don`t get itemised bills automatically (it makes a huge differance to your call charges because most mobile calls are v.short).
OK, Idon`t work for or have ANY connection with CPW, but i have an interest in maths i like to go into this stuff, this information is backed up by printed literature in CPW & if you request a tarrif print out at an o2 shop.

Lets face it how many of the high street phone stores do actually know anything about the phones they are selling. Take the new LINK advert for a start, who is that prat who seems to be mystic meg and know what tariff the bloke wants, it is so naff. Recently I was in my local CPW and just out of interest asked how much they were selling the T300 on pre pay on Orange only to be told that Orange are not going to be doing this so I questioned the price in their mag and was told it must be a misprint as O range definatly are not releasing it on pre pay so I had to show him the one I had just bought from the Orange shop His face was a picture especialy as the shop was full. I left with a nice warm feeling inside.
