Hi All,
Well I have just been told by my big brother that he is getting me a new tv for my room and has given me 2 options.
I have chosen a Philips 47'' LCD Widescreen Flat TV
Here are the specs, what do you all think? I have no idea about tv's:
- High-definition LCD 768p
- Integrated Digital Tuner for DVB-T reception
- HD ready for the highest quality display of HDTV signals
- Pixel Plus HD for better details, depth and clarity in HDTV
- 3D combfilter separates colours for a razor-sharp image
- Incredible Surround™ for enhanced audio enjoyment
- Slim, stylish design to complement your interior
- Compact and slim design that fits in every room
- 1000 page Hypertext for instant fast access to teletext
- Dual HDMI input for full digital High Definition connection
- Dimensions: (W x H x D) 1158 x 821 x 117 mm
- Product weight: 31 kg
Thanks in advance

Yeah, I've got my eye on a philips 32" LCD. There's one on display in my local co-op and the picture is absolutely amazing so if yours is anything like that one, you're in for a treat

Isn't it all about 1080p HD these days, which is better resolution than the 720p HD. 1080p is full HD but at the moment tv programmes only come at 720p. That will change in the future no doubt. I think ps3 supports upto 1080p games and videos. |

one of my brothers recently got a full hd Hitachi 42" LCD, amazing quality!
my other brother is waiting to pick up his 40" Sony Bravia x series (full hd)
personally, id say the sony might just have better colour reproduction than the Hitachi, but the difference is very small. The hitachi is one of the best tv's going round according to a few sales men, they all recommended it over the Sony, saying besides colours, its a better tv, and cheaper too. One advantage the Hitachi has is a 5m/s response time, where as the Sony and most other brands have 8m/s resposne times, this benefits you when playing games apparently!

Philips are a good TV, I currently have a 32" one. But if I had a choice I'd definatly go with a Sony Bravia or a Panasonic Viera even if I had to downgrade to 26". I used to have a 26" bravia but had to get rid

The good thing about Bravia's and the reason most sales men will recomennd them...and me is because of the Bravia Engine. If the TV has a good engine (and LCD TV's need them!) then your much more better off. Bravia and Viera are the best out there. A lot of the LCD's have engines these days, Philips Amberlight and Pixelview, Sharp Aquos. But Bravia is the best.

philips is GREAT, i have the same tv (only the 37" version), the quality is great! even through the rgb connectors / scart lead (allough you do need to adjust the settings to get a good image) (i'll send you my settings... should be the same!)
