Visited a forum and saw this poor chap get tricked into getting an Nokia.
Read his initial review and you will know how much you need to pay in long time when you are using a Nokia colour phone, since they seem to be forcing you to join their club Nokia.
Lucky all sonyericsson stuff in their wap site are FOC...

it's not cheap, it cost you RM20 to get only 16 credit.
Euro 1 = RM3.8++ , I consider this expensive when compare to what wap.sonyericsson.com can offer. |

6610/6100, I don't know what to tell you. After anticipating their release with much anxiousness, all I have to say is that I am very disappointed. I own a 6510 before buying that piece of crap 6610. I can say that I am still using 6510. Why ? Because I can do more with it. Simple things like assigning my preferred ring tone to different Caller Groups is not present in 6610. If you choose to assign different ring tones to different Caller Groups, you have to use their in-built ring tones, which all of us know is crappy. They added in new stuffs like MMS, downloaded games, downloaded images (Wallpapers, Picture Messages), Mobile Applications and stuffs like that. It's just GIMMICK ! For example, you get 2 games in the phone. You want to download more, you gotta pay. You got 2 Mobile Applications in the phone and then again, you want more you gotta pay. Ever noticed why Nokia is promoting their Club Nokia so aggressively ? You will know why when you buy this 2 phones. Did I say that the 2 games and applications bundled with the phone is crappy ? No, I am telling you now. Nokia is so smart because they know that you will not be contented with just 2 crappy games and 2 crappy applications, so they put in the WAP link in games and applications menu on where to download more games. The WAP link address ? Club Nokia lah, what else. 16 hard earned bucks for 20 Club Nokia Credits to be used to download stuffs from Club Nokia. Get it ? Go figure. What are my grouches for buying a RM1499 phone ? Oh, did I tell you that I bought 6610 for RM1499 w/o reg ? Oh did I tell you that the 6100, which is a wee bit smaller size than the 6610 is retailed at RM1768 w/o reg with all it's features same with the 6610 but without Radio ? Prized higher than the 6610 just because it's smaller and more stylish but without Radio ? Another gimmick to make more money because of our generation of people who wants everything small ? Go figure again. Oh, did I tell you that the colour display sucks ? No ? Well it does. Sucks very badly too. I uploaded some very hi-res jpegs onto it and when displayed, it's so grainy and blur. Yeah, some people tell me that, "It's only a phone, what u expect ? A desktop computer meh ?". Well, ok lor, acceptable, I guess. If you are an SMS addict, you might want to use this phone because it will make you realize what suffering is. For some reasons, Nokia decided to emulate a PC-based email client so much that the phone is so damned smart to make a copy of every SMS you sent into the Sent Folder. Very good leh, right ? The best thing is that there is no setting to turn this off and if you want to delete all the items in the Sent Folder, you have to do it manually ONE BY ONE. So, you better think twice about sending heck lot of SMS because you will have such a happy time deleting the sent SMS in the Sent Folder. The more sent SMS you accumulate in the Sent Folder, the more you enjoy deleting them. The FM radio receiver cum handsfree looks cool right ? Yup but when you use it then you will know that it's so damned clumsy. For some reasons, Nokia decided to make the wire/cable so bloody long. Like everybody is 9feet tall or something. Just imagine that when you are driving and suddenly you need to answer call. You will have a very happy time plugging in the handsfree. When you find that the extra long cable are tangled up, you will even more be happier. It's 2-sided somemore. All in, 3 very long cables. Imagine lah. You might say, "aiyah, if it's so troublesome, I buy and use the ciplak pasar malam compatible handsfree lor !". Cannot lah friend because Nokia so damned up-to-date, they decided to change the design of the handsfree connector. So, you have to use whatever they bundled with the phone. No other choice. There are so many more "happy" moments I would like share with you on the 6610 but I don't think I can go on because believe it or not, just by writing this post, I got "happy" tears running down my cheeks. I would like to congratulate others here who are like me, got so many brands out there don't want to buy, have to go and buy from "Microsoft" of handphones. Suckers !!!!

You are not alone! I laughed out loud and felt I'd found a home when I saw the 'Nokia' theme on this site. Never hand over your money to Nokia, say it with me y'all.... |

It's all bullshit!!! I have 7210 (it use the same software like 6610!) & I have 12 (!!!) games inside and all of them I get for FREE!!! Also a lot of them I get FOR FREE(!!!) FROM NOKIA's Software market through WAP! So directly from Nokia and FREE!!!
Although all other things you wrote here is mostly bullshit.

Nokia's "Software market" you will find in the bookmarkes of the phone - it is already stored here, just go here and You will find a lot of games for free here.
Others I have downloaded from e.g. http://www.midletcentral.com/ or http://midlet.org/jsp/index.jsp to my computer and then installed through Nokia PC Suite 5,0 (it comes with 6610, also You can get it free from www.nokia.com). That's all and all for free! |

SO address of "Software market" is http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/wap but I think you can download games only from Nokia phones, because I always get directly links to games that is suitable for 7210 ... but check it from other phones, I don't know exactly. |

Thanks for your help. What good sources are there for pictures (128*128) for these models? 6100 can download pics from wap cant it?. Does anyone know when the 6100 is available in the UK, and how much is it expected to retail for?. Finally, do these models support animated screensavers like the t68i?.

hmmm the guy who wrote the review doesn't have a clue... ok he has several complaints
a) no free java downloads
b) have to delete sent sms one by one
c) can't use own ringtones for caller groups
d) bad headset with no alternatives
a) that's obviously wrong, there's loads of free ones to be found at various midlet sites. even more glaringly, there are free ones to be had from nokia via their software market which you can access from your phone menu. and these were available before the paid-for ones at club nokia.
b) there is an option to delete all at once. menu > messages > text messages > delete messages > sent items
c) there is already a workaround for this using third party programs, plus rumours of a new software version very soon that will allow it
d) nokia also has a boom headset for pop-port which only has one wire, and one earpiece, which hooks over the ear. and it's only a matter of time before third party manufacturers start making accessories for pop-port. |
