The famous " > * < < * < * " dance... The info displayed on the Serivce Menu, is it hardware-based? Firmware-based? Both? Neither?
In particular, the "Model info" and "Configuration," does the hardware or firmware write the info displayed?
I'm curious after my fake S710 drama. The phone reported it was an S710a, but showed 900-1800-1900 bands, which is impossible (S710a has 850 instead of 900).

it is firmware based. all the info it gets is from the FS, imo.

Then how do you account for my alleged S710a reporting the S700i's frequencies?

maybe the custom(regional information) it had was from a s710.

I think it's not all the FS based... The IMEI, network locks are readen from the gdfs... Also there is case with some phones for example conversion of k750 to w800 where the phone model info still remains k750 instead of the w800...

well, youre right there. but some informations are taken from the FS as the region it is, etc.
