nice, a k770 cam topic

I was wondering about the difference between using the dedicated camera button (what do you call this anyway? shutter button?) and the central button on the d-pad when taking shots. Am I correct to assume that their difference is that when you use the dedicated button, you can focus and then move the camera around while in focus, with the d-pad button, the camera will focus then take the shot immediately?

Yes, that is one thing.
The other thing is you can half press the button (while unsteady, not so steady), then prepare yourself better, be steady then take the full press e.g. you can hold your breath quicker than if you take the shot with the D-pad.

The D-pad takes you to stay steady longer since you have to be steady also when the cam focusing.

Hope you get it.

In the metering mode article on wikipedia, it mentioned that in spot metering, you can move and point to another subject after metering another one. Is this one use of the dedicated cam button?

Never tried it. But I'd like to give it a shot. Thanks for the info anyway. [addsig]
