It's sad but, it's the reality. yes i admit SE is getting less than we expect it to be. the K850 camera quality, The High-end W960 built quality disappintment , Unfixed UIQ issues, and Keypad problems on W580/S500, Dpad problem with W850 which flooded the entire SE forum.
Now let us inspire (at least for this site) for posting our heartily messages for them. i.e. to make up more than we expect for the next announcement, to take time improving their quality from different fields, to further increase their market share to increase high-end phones to be announced and to improve their company as a whole. any inspiring message is acceptable. SE loyal fans/users who are in/not in the midst of separation with their once beloved company(i know there are lots of us ) let's make to become what we expect them to be by posting inspiring messages for them(hope they could read this) can't we do this? remember it's holiday season i know many people loves the true person of SE back in their glowing moments.

Me too Loyal SE fan for more than 5years, But also think SE is losing it.
SE when i became a fan had better Quality products and Better featured ones at a price lower than competitive Nokia ones
Now Nokia is regularly cutting the rates down while SE isnt. For eg. the Price of Nokia 6300 has gone down to 7,800 INR from 10,500 whereas that of the SE S500 is same 10500 from the day its launched, not reduced at all.
The Price of P1i is also the same from the day it was launched.
Nobody wants to buy 5months old model at the same price it was launched so SE revise prices monthly nd keep them at par or a little lower than similarly featured NOKIA sets, otherwise you are not gonna gain any marked share from NOKIA which holds almost 70% share in INDIA |

inevitably, SE have lost ground but indeed there's nothing could be done, they need to invent something which can make our eyes wide open, not the old same type again

I think now brand royalty doesnt make any sense ..its better to see what is that you want in ur Gadget or Gizmo and which brand gives you a better deal and go for it...
but still i would like to come out with reliable, stylish and innovative products

I don't care about higher megapixels for cybershot or improving sound quality of Walkman, they're all okay and I see nothing wrong with them. 2 megapixels with autofocus and macro mode is good enough for me and walkman players always sound good and clear. What I do like is the new interface, the PSP-style XMB media menu. And then there's the flash themes, they're a visual treat and makes the UI an eye candy rather than boring and same old interface of other brands' OS. I also look forward to new innovations rather than super sizing camera modules or adding useless dedicated audio chips. I hope there will be more applications of shake control and the new gesture control of W380 should be integrated to more applications or functions in future models. |

Having "toured" the other manufacturers, I've always come back to The way the K850i has 'round-the-world 3G, it is certainly my next phone, once the bugs are fixed and the price drops some more.
But I do agree they can learn a lot from Nokia and Motorola regarding physical materials, build quality, signal reception, and voice quality + volume.
BTW, I would've bought an S500i, but the ongoing keypad problem - and how still denies the problem exists - kept me far, far away.

What I wish from SE phones in general:
1. By all means use the Sony experience on emotional design, light, compact and snappy.
2. Dont get to emotionally attached to some of the low Sony std, for example purple infested camera modules, memory stick etc. Use a better modules even if its needed from other sources and use a std that used widely like micro sd (no need double to save space).
My wish for the future phones:
1. Wifi and related applications for all mid high end ranges.
2. Dont be stinggy with using large and good resolution screen.
3. Integrated WM touchscreen friendliness for high end touch screen phone.
4. Brings back the screen saver
3. Adjustable text size from small to XL when reading Inbox messages, emails, web (just like the old T39)
4. Keep the micro sd slot get away with micro stick std
5. More elegant and easy keypad ala K770 with more elegant colors choice
6. Keep the torchlight (sos option). Led default for close distance dark photo and xenon above 1 meter distance at dark
7. Built-in sirf3 gps with third party maps option.
8. Make a 2.4-2.8" candybar or 3.5 to 4 inch compact slider for people to choose.
9. Better camera modules please and keep the silent mode shutter.
10. 4 band 3G HSUPA EDGE for all mid to high range
11. More emotional Flash themes ala S500 and shake control for all mid-high end models.
12. Lockable/password protected files (just incase the phone lost)
13. Blacklist for callers, along with a whitelist
14. Better video recording
15. TV out
16. Lower SAR
17. 3.5mm jack or adaptor
18. Better battery
19. Competitive pricing
20. Better build quality, dont make the same crappy mistakes as S500
21. Integrated windows to the smartphone series, dual mode keypad ala rumoured P5 is nice.
I know some of the wishes is probably a little to ahead But nothing is impossible if SE wants to try. It badly needs a blockbuster to pacify the more advance users out there.
I believe Nokia was in similar situation before. However It can prove to overcome the difficulties and produce winners. I believe SE can too providing it sincerely wants to. Otherwise it is no stopping from their supporters to jump to other brands. Good luck SE |

1. Release phones on schedule.
2. Don't dilute brands by sticking them on sub-par products.
3. Start putting in 16 million color screens.
4. Forget the megapixel race and release a Cyber-shot flagship with a high quality sensor (one that beats the i-mobile 902 hands down) and optical zoom. |

I think lately SE has been focusing on low-mid range phones because they think that's where the market is, they're probably right. But they should realize that the N95 is so iconic that people who can't afford it would just settle for anything Nokia simply for the security of being under a leading brand. SE can produce a million low-end models a year and I won't be bummed by that, just as long as they produce just ONE kickass innovative, feature-rich, ahead of its time phone as an anchor that would ultimately make their millions of low-end phones seem more attractive. It's win-win, us techies would be contented for at least another year or two, and SE can sell their millions. And please, just listen to your consumers' feedbacks on your crappy products of late because 90% of the answers that would lead to your profit are here under you nose dammit.
