k850i vs. P1i vs. LG u990 ? |

I'm deciding on what my next handset should be, and I think I've narrowed down my choices to the K850i, P1i and LG viewty.
My particular points of interest are the camera and music player, although I also prefer an adapted form of text input, such as with the P1i or the viewty's touch qwerty.
Because I no longer own a digital camera or mp3 player, I plan on outfitting my phone with 8gb memory and probably stereo bluetooth.
K850i probably has the best camera, and the updated SE media player (3.0?), so is probably the most practical choice. However, my past several handsets have all been SE candybars, and I'm not too particularly attracted to the K850i design, so I'm kind of looking for a little aesthetic change.
I've been reading great things about the P1i, I really like the idea of keys and a touchscreen, besides being the cheapest solution. I like the design of it better than the k850i, but I'm a little unsure of the camera and sound quality....
The Viewty is visually my favorite, the camera apparently its comparable to the K850i's, and as previously noted I like the qwerty option for text input. However I've never owned an LG phone before, and I've yet to confirm if it could handle an 8gb microsd.
I've also considered the 8gb w960i, which would cost about as much as these + an 8gb microsd/M2.
Opinions, suggestions, and advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm upgrading from the midrange K610i (lost my k750i last year T.T), so I'm hoping to make this purchase a good investment of ~$600
Thanks, guys xD |

hi takunoo
it's very hard choice, having said that, LG ain't my favorite, so if i were you, i'd pick either a K850 or W960, seems as if you don't need a QWERTY anyway

Okay, thanks.
Out of curiosity, are there any w960 owners that can tell me if its camera is pretty decent in comparison to say, the P1i?
I really wanted the w960 before its release, but after reading mobile-review.com's report on it, I'm not really so hot about it anymore...

i am quite sure the camera on w960 is on par with P1i, though some people might say it ain't as good as K800, i think the camera is pretty decent and one could live with it i have used most SE phone |

We dont need a camera to live with it (compromise),But we need a camera that wil make us live
I would go for LG viewty ,It has 3 inch screen+5mp cam+Image stabilizer+flash+TV out+Vga video recording+ and the price looks attractive

I'd choose K850 if i were you, when considering lots of possibilities for customization. like camdriver, acoustics, menu icons, more robust HSDPA connection and much more. that's if you are a fond of modding and customizing. your K850 serves your the best among them all but if you want fashion and uniqueness, choose Viewty, but if you have used a palm device before and wanted to port all your apps to a powerful mobile in an easy way, choose P1 which can utilize all .prc palm applications through styleTap to be released next year

I would say Viewty is the BEST of the 3 you stated.
Its 5Mpx cam is better than K850. You can check many photo comparo reviews. And it has VGA@30fps or QVGA@120fps compared to say K850 QVGA@15/30fps (most of time only 15fps). Viewty also have TV-out and a 3-inch TS compare to 2.6in for P1 and a pathetic 2.2in for K850. And you know what Viewty is cheaper than both SE offering.

^^
and K850 with it's A200 platform can support up to 32Gb cards! but currently there are no such cards like that
@mib: yeah Viewty is cheaper that's why...
viewty firmware can not be updated as well
K850 camera can still improve with cam drivers, so does audio quality
K850 has much more stable HSDPA connection, better videocall quality, and much faster UI. and does much better in java application benchmarks than any non-OS phones around.
K850 can utilize GPS with HGE-100 compatibility
K850 can utiliza Flash Menus like Viewty but you can add your own Flash Menu and use it which means K850 is much more flexible in UI configurations
K850 has lots of native accessories that you wont need to buy an accessory from a different brand
And of course K850 has can do better Macro Pictures than Viewty? need new proofs mib?

In english: Viewty does only support MicroSD up to 2gb. In other words, a 8gb card wont work.

I think you should confirm this with actual owners. Even Nokia states N95 supports upto 2Gb but we know it can use bigger card. Viewty is newer than N95 so I dont see why LG not putting in a microSDHC card reader in viewty. |
