Hi ppl

Yes I am the 3rd person to do this. The IR power button broke off my k700. I cant turn it on. Any tips? Anyone know how to open it without the button? How much does the repair cost?

Please HELP!

You should bring your unit to an official SE service center and have it fixed.

I had the same problem. I needed the phone and didn't have time to go to service for a couple of days. There are two points of lead inside when you look through the hole and I closed the circuit by connecting them with a tiny screwdriver for 5-6 seconds. Its important to be precise because if you're not, you'll wait till the evening and the phone won't turn on!

If you have time to go to service these days, go, but if you don't have the time - do as I did.

actually there are 4..the piece that came off was sort of like a square so 4 points left. Can you please be more clearer on the method u used, not sure how the screwdriver completed the circuit, if possible could u make me a diagram using paint or something, i would really appreciate it!!

You just put the screwdriver in onto the contact points left to complete the circuit, and the phone should turn on. It might take a few attempts, but should work in the end. Just don't turn the phone off if you can help it or you'll have to go through the rigmarole again!

Not sure if it'd be worth taking the phone to a service centre, what they charge to fix the phone may be more than the phone is worth now, so it could be worthwhile saving that money and putting it towards a new phone if you can afford one.

i also happen to have a k700i with a broken switch (and water damage) that i have stripped down and never bothered to fix.

I think the switch is the bit highlighted in the red box and Sammy_boy is telling you to put the screwdriver over those pins. (they are on the screen side of the phone)

The photo is pretty poor quality as i couldnt get my k810i and k800i to focus properly (wheres my k750i when i need it! )

so one screwdriver to cover all those pins or 4 screwdrivers for each pin (the first choice seems more logical lol). thanx
