Why bother with wml I say ?!?
New phones support WAP 2.0 meaning that you can just code you site in xhtml and it will be accessible both through the web and wap !
No need for sites like tagtag where you have no/little control over the layout and content

my 2 cents

XML is a meta language on which WML ands HTML where based, howerver html is pretty pathetic as a language as it allows for very bad syntax (thats why some websites look different in different browsers, and also why phones cant deal with it).
XHTML is basically a much stricter version of HTML, it is basically a sub-type of XML and is much better suited to phones (and will replace HTML soon anyway).

The main differences are that all tags must be lowercase and closed properly (eg.
becomes
,
and that tags must be nested properly.

w3schools has a better explanation on their site, and a validator to check your code is correct

all HTML browsers should be able to handle XHTML, as does the t68i, i dont know about others cos i have a t68i and a t28
