I have a Pre-Commercial Unit from Metrowerks with an Orange UK sim card but, i can't get the internet to work via GPRS without getting a general error message. The only method i have tried that works is to use 'Ericsson Wap' settings using CSD, and that limits me to wap only with no pics. Anybody here know any setting that will work?
Other people have managed to use the internet or wap on there pre-com phones without any hiccups according to the forums.

lol - ring orange they will help......not - 'whats a P-800' will be the reply...probably. I'll try to help with general settings - I have the P800 manual - give me some time to scoot through it (all 200 pages) [addsig]

Thanks Orangeman! Look forward to the settings. Should be good to have the means to use html, rather than limited wap on a ~£700 phone.

Much as i`d like one now, your experience & the price you paid, confirms my concerns about buying before a mass market release. Yes it is nice to have it i`m sure but i`m afraid it wont be a £700 phone for long. as i predict a £550 sim free price online by the end of next month. And as low as £259 with a contract. although i do plan to buy one as soon as they arive in shops in UK.

I would only have bought the phone sim-free eventually, so that means I've only paid £150 more than it will be 2 months after i've had it, before most other people. If you can code as well the Codewarrior suite covers the £150 premium. Just hoping that can upgrade to Commercial Firmware as soon as? Does Anybody else with a Pre-Commercial phone know how to install software? I have the 'facewave' player by 'Anthropics' designed for the P800, but can't install it?!

Yea the "price versus time" thing is the game we play on all phones is`nt it, i was`nt really saying i think you f**ked up, more that there is a chance that by the time you get the apps you need it could be allready widely available, also i (and ONLY me it seems) still think t9 will be on the final version,(i know all the arguments against needing it, but people seem to want it). funny though because i too always buy an unlocked phone on o2 or voda, but only use my OVP Orange sim in it, the o2/voda sim lives in the cupboard.nice to see somebody using a p800 though.

Point noted!

Would be nice to see a Video Recording App for the P800, been using a 7650 for last couple of days which has the 't-mobile video messaging' app installed. 100kb for 20 secs of reasonable, good frame rate video, which can be bluetoothed to a p800 and played through it's video player. I have also sent an mms from the P800 with video mp4 attached and has been received and played fine on a 7650. There isn't any camera api in the codewarrior development suite!

If anybody has made something like 'CameraFX for 7650' or 'T-Mob Video' that can be installed on the p800, pls link on this forum?

Assuming you have GPRS access on your account.

Control Panel -> Internet Connections
add new or edit the one called gprs
type: GPRS
Servername : orangeinternet

disable WAP under the WAP menu.

Works well on orange uk GPRS.

To install files, easiest method is to simply send the .sis file to the terminal via IR.

Anthropics is very cool.
