Hey all:

Just got a brand new w880i. I've had numerous cell phones before (including at least four SEs) and they were all pretty consistent with the original charge on the new battery. The manual says about 2.5 hours and they were all about that.

However, even though the manual for the w880i says the same thing, this new battery is taking forever to charge up full. 12 hrs yesterday and it's only 75%. It does appear to be charging, just slow slow slow.

The battery is the standard BST-33 Li-polymer. Whats more, is that I also got a new m600i last week, Identical battery, but in fact it appeared to charge full (IR light on top of phone went out) after only an hour or so of initial charging.

This seems very unusual. Anyone see this before? Have any thoughts?

Can the batteries come in original package with so varied a charge? Or perhaps since the circuits inside each phone are different, the time to charge is different. But by so large a time frame? (1 hr or so vs. 20 hrs)

I guess I'll know in a few weeks when I run down the initial charge and charge it up again, but I would be very curious to know if any other w880i users found this issue with their phone.

Thanks !
Bill

you may have a defective battery. if the problem persists, take it back to where you bought it and have it replaced.

2.5 hours is the max charging time required, assuming it's a dead battery. when i charge mine with about 12% power left, it usually takes less than 2 hours.

Thanks for replying.

Yes, that's possible. Once this one is fully charged, I'm going to charge up my new spare. If it's the battery, I'll just keep that [apparently somewhat defective] one as a spare I guess. Actually they are fairly cheap so I may just get a few more, and a charger too.

At least if it is the battery and not the phone, then it's ok.
