W960 V 5610: Dedicated Music Chip - How much difference does it make? |

Ok so I was planning on getting a w960 as i really want my next phone to provide good music playback. Many have since mentioned that the Nokia 5610 would give much better playback quality due to its in built dedicated music chip.
My question is does this make much difference as surley SE wouldnt have made the W960 the music flagship had they thought it wouldnt be good enough. Ive heard some people say he walkman range is not that good im comprasim but ive also heard some people say the 5610s chip makes no difference at all.
Your views please. |

i would say the w960i would be better,sony makes mp3 players too so i would think they use the technology from them in their mobiles
but one flaw is that w960i doesnt provide a 3.5mm jack on the phone itself

Good point. Why then is the walkman name bashed so much im comparasim with Nokia then? Is it fanboyism or has the quality generally not increased enough? |

well my opinion is that sony ericsson/ericsson and nokia have been competitors from the start?i think the walkman(w960i) would be better because they have been going on for longer than the express music.but nokias sound quality definately has improved

You obviously think very wrong. Sony walkman players have nothing in common with SE W phones except the walkman logo.

A more fair comparison would be W960 and N81. 5610 is more of a K850 or W910 competitor.

You opinion means nothing without proof. Really, now. People've been saying that the Walkman branding means nothing, but maybe there's more to that than what meets the eye.

no mobile phone competes in SQ with stand alone mp3 players @qvga. No, not even the n91. The n91, and maybe couple other phones might compare with an ipod, but thats becuase ipod SQ is very average, almost below average.

Look now, buddy, many people've said that the new walkman phones are just as good as iPods and I doubt Sony's walkmans are that better than the iPods themselves.
Apaprently, not everyone knows it |

I know no mobile phone compares with a mp3 player, thats what i said before. But N91 is pretty similar or better than an iPod.
@nightblade

yes i've SEEN it, not heard though, but the reviews on mobile-review and gsmarena were an indication enough and we all know hardware tests dont lie.
