Okay, I'm thinking about coming back to SE. I'm currently thinking about getting a K850i but I'd like to know how the video playback is on it? What formats does it play?

I love the fact that I can add apps for my S60 phone and playback a ton of formats without really messing with various formats...I watch a bunch of stuff on my phone because I have a bunch of time to kill in between classes...

So help me out...

K850 playback is good, as SE phones have always been.

Id advise you to stay with your s60, K850 is a Java and only supports 3GP and MP4 unlike an s60 where we can add avi, mpeg1 and 2, Xvid, DivX, etc. . . Rather get a new s60 if you dont want to bother with always having to convert videos.

I use Winavi 3gp convertor to convert divx movies to 3gp at 320x240 and find the quality excellent. File size is about 300mb per movie. The playback was smoother on the 029 firmware and I'm now on 038 and it can be a bit jerky for a few sec's if you were to pause playback and then resume. But all in all I think it's excellent that i can watch full movies on my phone. Maybe the long awaited new firmware will improve it.

its foolishness to buy a s60 phone for only watching AVI files.. haha
lolz S60 very slow platform. and e61 screen is nothing. K850i is simply the best all the way.

we talked about here about watching movies generally and sometimes its really funny to watch movies on the road if it is. next to it, e61 screen is bigger then k850 and next to it its a 16m screen, so far better quality, then k850 ( when it comes to watch movies ) and then we didnt mentioned e60 screen resolution. so the generally se screens with 262k are more then outdated imo

lolz 16M... SE 262K screen is equivalent to Nokia 16M bigger Screen.
bigger screen doesnt mean that it is superior quality-wise.
K850i screen is Crystal clear and colour production is very good.

Well well well...
Good topic though..but i have to say i converted a few video songs for K850 and the quality is just brilliant..come on if i want to see a movie in my phone...i will have one video converter..and one standard format..mp4 for eg
...
Who needs loads of format to support when one good format is more than enough...
Se wins all the way...ya media manager is quite slow and buggy..but the real thing about it is next firmware can solve all the problem?..hopefully..
So for me K850 wins..
And i forgot to say...nokia's screen clarity wont stand a chance against crystal clear screen of se!

I took a sample video off a K850 at a Sony shop about a week ago. It recorded an indoor frame rate of 7.5fps which is worse than my S700 of 3 years ago, worse than my wife's W800 from 2 years ago, worse than my P990 from 1 year ago and even worse than my Z558 from 1/2 a year ago. What good is QVGA resolution if you're stuck with such crappy frame rate? You'd have choppy video that would miss capturing even reasonably slow movements. To sum it up, totally and utterly disappointing, more so because it is advertised to go up to 30fps at QVGA resolution. Why don't we all give the poor guy a break and tell him the truth

7.5?

Dude you must be joking or you might have kept the setting for mms video..,
Mind records perfectly at 30 and playback of those video is really superb..
I dont know whether many are replying here just to bash se or is it really some fault in the phone...
Afaik...K850 is awesome...give it a few more firmware updates...it will repeat k750's record...
Please dont write something like this ..coz it really makes se look like some cheap company...and creates a very bad impression...
They are the BEST!
