What area are you in? My reception has been getting better recently. I'm mostlt GTA. It's becasue the GSm network with Rogers is relatively new. So it's very patchy... they're trying to cover lots of areas but leaving gaps everywhere. |

i'm in markham, near the edge of scarborough (near steeles).
yeah, it does seem to be getting better slowly, but it's still weird, cuz one of my friends get like 3-4 bars reception in one area, but my phone doesnt even detect any service there. i was right next to my friend too. very odd.... |

I find the reception crappy in most buildings and in many areas I don't have a consistent signal strength Rogers rep told me the t68i does not have as good antenna as many other phones. GSM connection is similar to the signal I had on Nokia 6160 TDMA and Analog.

The reception on my phone is the best I've ever had when I have a signal. Also the TDMA network is fuly developed and the GSM is still new so that comparison is not really valid. It's not the phone it's Roger's GSM Network. FIDO does seem to be a lot better in the GTA they've developed a great network but just don't have as much coverage as Rogers. If you phone is unlocked borrow some one's FIDO SIM card and give it a test to find out for sure if it's your phone or Roger's My guess is it's probbaly Roger's. (I use Roger's too)

Reception in Vancouver is pretty spotty. It seems to work just about everywhere except my office (downtown tower) and my house (KITS).

hi guys,
I am new to this forum, as well as to T68i.
My bro-in-law has V60 and he lives in McCown and 14 th Ave and he finds the GSM signal is not that good even just outside his house. He also finds that it works fine here in Scarborough and TO.
I have gotten my t68i last week and it is working fine, may b/c I am in GTA mostly.
OK, since you guys are using Rogers, I would like to ask few questions here.
1) how can I change the banner of Rogers AT&T ( i was abe to change to Nokia 3360 with some code)
2) where did you unlock your phone
3) where can I buy RS232 cable to sync with my PC (any used one I can buy)
that is it for now

1) u cant change the banner with the t68i, i don't know why, but that's the way it is, or at least no one knows how.
2) u should ask rogers for the sim lock code thing via email or goto one of those small phone shops
3) they should have cables at some small shops as well, but i use a TDK bluetooth adaptor which is waaaaaaayyyyy better. |

JwY,
thanks for your info.
for unlocking, did you get the sim lock number from rogers and you did it yourself? is that the number I have to enter for NCK or something? can you please outline the steps to unlock my phone?
ok, i want to experience the bluetooth too, how much the TDK adapter? is there anything else I have to buy? my PC is old, PII-350 with Win2000 pro. I need your help in this set up too, if you don't mind.
thanks

i haven't unlocked mine yet because i don't really need to right now.
the only problem with getting the NCK code is that i don't know if Rogers is willing to give it to u just like that. And u have to make sure u know what ur doing. If u want to play it safe, find a shop somewhere. Rogers charges $250 or something which is a total rip if they do it for u. U should email them about it first and ask for the NCK code. tell me if they give it to u.
i got my TDK for like $200 something at Pacific mall if u know where that is. it was expensive since it was imported from europe, but it's really easy to install, just download the latest software from their site and everything will work. |
