Can HSPDA and wifi 801.b/g be offered in new firmware? |

We are all undoubtedly taken aback that SE failed to include HSPDA and Wifi 802.11g in the P1i.
Can we expect these to be added in future via a firmware upgrade, or do these features require a hardware upgrade and therefore will be found only in the P5i?
Also, the P1i's specs on gsmarena show that it has HSCSD. What is that and is it related to the HSPDA?

Well, the P1i has UMTS!

The P1i supports 384 kbps (gsmarena specs).

Since HSPA is predominantly a software update, is there some hope that we can have HSPDA on the P1i if SE is petitioned seriously enough?

hi,
i don't think you can have a non HSDPA device to function as HSDPA, unless if it's built in, and it's just a matter of activation through a firmware that it will run HSDPA eventually. such case was met in Treo 750V, formerly runnning only 3G non HSDPA, in the letter non Vodafone branded, the HSDPA feature was enabled through a ROM upgrade. but keep in mind, it already had the ability to run on HSDPA network.
and i am afraid, the wifi g has everything to do with its hardware, hence a firmware upgrade will not trigger the wifi g either

How optimistic.
No, it's not possible. |

hi,
HSCSD is old fashioned, kind of dial up stuff or something? might be wrong, but certainly it is step backward towards UMTS/3G
hence it is nowhere near HSDPA
