My W910i Experience . So Far |

I have been the owner of a W910i (on Vodafone) for 5 days now ... and I am already on my second one.
The first one I had developed a fault after 30 mins of ownership, so I took it back and got a new one.
The first few days were fine, it is so much smaller and lighter than my old "brick" that is the W900i. There are a few things that I wasn't sure about when choosing it, such as the lack of auto focus and a flash/light and the small amount of onboard memory, but overall I was pleased with it, so after I arrived home I charged it up (patiently) and put some music on the supplied 1GB M2 stick.
Then it all started to go wrong ....
Whilst texting my mate whilst out in the pub, the screen went black and the video recording light came on, I panicked and pressed the centre button and took the battery cover off in preparation of taking the battery off a la of my old W900i. But after a few seconds it was though I had switched it off and on again. Luckily it was ok after that, but I wasn't happy.
Then today, at work, a mate of mine was sending me some pics from his K750i over Bluetooth. On my phone it came up as having 0KB of memory left. I thought to myself, "this isn't right, I've got well over 100meg on the card and 20meg on the phone itself". So I cancelled the transfer and checked the phone status and memory status. Both were fine, showing I had 135mb on the card and 20mb on the phone. So we tried again, and it showed I had 0KB so I accepted the file and it was fine.
So on Saturday I am going back to see what Vodafone are going to do, I am hoping to either get a Nokia N95 8GB or a K850i.
Sorry for the essay, just thought I would share my experiences so far.

I bought the same phone and the Speaker is shit, also gets a Black screen all the time, and the memory keeps going wrong, basically a waste of money.
I had the same old phone as you and i found its best use was lathering up to wash my stinky pits!!

Well, my experience is quite different. No flaws so far. Excellent build quality, nice screen and very easy to use. Synchronizing with my PC and pairing with two of my car hands free was just fine. Voice control from the car HF is just perfect.
I hope it keeps that way.
Sound quality is up to SE walkman line ...
Best regards. |

Nearly all software related complains are with branded phones why is this happening se should look into this n do some testing before shipping them.
i have had phones since my beloved T39 all of em unbranded n sim free have never had a glitch or white screen etc,
I hate branding period.

its not about the actual model, its about the actual phone.
didnt vodafone have to take back some stock of the w910i because too many people were complaining about their phones having problems that were bought from vodafone? i think the ones you have had might be one of those lol
ive had mine since it first came out as well, and ive had absolutely no software problems with it whatsoever.
and by the way, my one is branded as well, just not from vodafone =D |

Thanks for all your posts!
Some were really interesting, especially swordliger's regarding Vodafone's withdrawal of some of their W910i's.
I am hoping to get a Nokia N95 8gb if Vodafone let me, if not then I don't know what I'll do. Most likely the K850i, but are they are as inreliable as people on here say they are?
Thanks |

Upon looking at the Vodafone website, I have compiled a shortlist of phones that I might try and get:
1) Nokia N95 8GB
2) Nokia N85 (the normal one)
3) Nokia N73
4) SE W880i
Any problems that I should know of with any of the above especially the N95 and the SE W880i?
Thanks |

Hi all,
We all know branding changes and even removes certain functionality from the phone, but just who do you think puts this custom firmware and tests it the Networks or SE or both?
Surely at the end of the day it is a SE device so it must be SE's responsibility? you may not like branded firmware i know i don't but if you have a problem with it irrespective of the manfactuer it is the manufacturers responsibility and problem.

Hey, C2drules,
Both phones the W910 and K850 have not had good reviews since launched, my suggestion is go for the N95 8GB, its a gem of a phone..... |

Actually, it's the operator's. They do the branding. |
