Hello,

Two days ago, I lost my P990i and I decided to move on to an iPhone. I had backed up my contacts a week ago using Backup Manager on my computer and would like to get my contacts back. Is there any way I can convert the backup files into the .vcf format?

Otherwise, the only other option I see is to get another p990i and hook it up to my computer and restore my backup files to that phone and THEN convert them into a .vcf file and save that file on my computer. WHEW!

Any help would be appreciated.

AFAIK the backups can be opened, if you search google for the right prog, and you should then be able to access everything that it contains. Not sure how you'd actually then go about converting the contacts DB into VCF though. I've taken to keeping a backup of my contacts on my m2 card in VCF format, just in case, especially as I don't sync my p1 at all with and PIM software on my laptop (I HATE outlook).

The P1 backups are encrypted. The old P910 program can't open them.
Anyone knows a tool for this?

If you hate Outlook (as I do), you can sync with the default Windows Adress Book.

Ugh, I'd rather go back to keeping my phone numbers in a little black book than sync with windows address book

I was sure I'd seen a thread on here about opening backups to get specific files out, i'm pretty sure it was related to the p990 too. Then again I could be imagining all this

Well, I googled a lot of things using permutations and combinations of keywords about this, and I still didn't get anything. The only way out I see is to restore it to another p990i. Oh well.. But solutions are always invited!!

The P910 backups were Zip files.
The if pattern sticks, you can create a brute force password cracker for P990 backups!

Hi Guys,

I am facing the same problem with SE PC Suite backup & restore function.

Before I upgrade the firmware, i backup my data on June 29, 2008.
My last backup was Mar 22, 2008

After firmware upgrade, it only managed to restore my data up to Mar 21, 2008. I clearly selected to restore from the june 29, 2008 file but it still the same. So now all my contacts and sms from Mar 22, 2008 till now were gone.

Anyone can help me on this? Or how to I cracked the encrypted BM3 file?

Please guys,,I really need my data back
