Helloooo!

Ok, its come to a time of year where im getting a new phone, and i really dont know which one to choose... the Nokia N95, or the Sony Ericsson K850i?

My dad recently got the N95 on contract and i must say it is an amazing phone, just amazingly slow... however, when i received my Sony Ericsson K850i, i was impressed by it, but i like the technological features of the N95, like the WiFi, and the GPS, and the music buttons and all the stuff i would ever want in a phone, please keep in my here that i am only 15 lol.

So anyway, after having played between my dads N95 and my K850i, there are so many differences between the N95 and K850i. I like the tilt function of the K850i, and the dediacated camera buttons, and the fancy touch sensor buttons and the dedicated media keys and what not, however the N95 has its own main things which i have been wanting in a phone for a while, its just that its SO SLOW... it takes about 4 seconds just to open the camera application, and then about 7 seconds to take the picture... however, the WiFi is very good with its UPnP, i set up sharing all files on the N95, and straight away my PS3 recognised it and i was able to view all its files, whilst still able to use the phone. The bluetooth on both of the phones is just fantastic, 100kbps transfer speed is incredible, the highest i ever got on my k800i was with another nokia phone of about 45kbps, and that was amazing on its own...

I like the ability of having the GPS, i know, i know, your all thinking "why would a 15 year old need GPS?", well i dont know myself lol, but i do like that feature there...

The speakers on the N95, just WOW, absolutely amazing, handled most of my songs with hardly any distortion, however the k850i only has 1 speaker, and it is terribly placed on the back of the phone, so when you put the phone on the surface, it blocks the sound and it is muffled... stupid Sony Ericsson design flaws... not forgetting how long it takes just for the songs to load via the new XMB type thingy ma bob.

There are so many upsides on both of the hand sets, but also so many downsides...

please, i really do need to make a choice here, can anyone help at all?!

im running out of time!!

^^ Bear in mind K850 can also use GPS with a separate accessory

I wont try to convince you of any of the two. i'll just give you an advice that you choose what suits you most based on your needs and preferences both phones are good, but if you hate slowdowns take the K850, although as many people here addresses N95 has lots of features you would probably use maybe once in your life

^^ Software wise, J2ME OS is far safer than Symbian it's just the fact that N95 had already recieved software updates that's why it's more stable as of now. K850 hasn't yet recieved any software updates since it's release, more to do with the time after the release dates between the two (N95 has been there since May, while K850 has been available just last october )

@razec,

But look how fast the N95 Firmware and how quickly it resolved most of the issues even the GPS now with AGPS and is fast. S60 is a well established and stable platform with loads of free apps both from Nokia and developers. The new platform on the K850 seems to be causing lots of problems for many and still no Software release for SEUS and the phones with the new firmware still appear to have problems.

Also many people are complaining of how slow the K850 is, much slower than the K800 which is hardly surprising as this new platform with all the additional features still has the same processor as the K800 but with much more to do hence the slowdowns.

The question is does he want to have to wait what 3-6months if he is lucky for his phone to reach it's potential or get the N95 that is already stable and is due a new Firmware in December which will improve it further.

one of the biggest bonus with n95 would be the tonnes of great application, what u ll never get with k850. nokia has a far better and wider support, next to the given features ( gps, multimedia palyer etc ) u ll get any new features too, if it is

do you mean k850 vs N95 8GB Black... (or k850 vs N95 original) ?????

N95 8GB looks ten times better then the original N95, and it cost 300 EURO more then k850. (k850 = 400 EURO...N95 8GB = 700 EURO)...so i should go for k850, because its cheaper...BUT if you have a lot of money and enjoy Nokia, go for N95 8GB........

k850 have little less functions, but still a awesome phone (have no comments about the original N95....think its one of Nokias biggest misstakes, (terrible build quality(slide/chassis), very bad battery, etc, etc

ps..i saw N82 today...woooaaahhh..very very well done Nokia..
good picture quality as well
