Hi,
Im after some re-assurance or backing...
I renewed my o2 contract 10 days ago, got the new K850i (K800i was my current phone) and to be honest, I didnt rate it too great, took some getting used to the touch screen area, and the new navigation key. The camera is not that brill either, a disappointment initially. And its much slower than the K800 too...
Anyway, I got on with it OK, and I was happy enough.
Then, 4 days in, it had hung up and frozen, needing a battery disconnect, several times in one day. After that, the camera lens cover (lovely feature BTW) decided it wouldnt open. The star feature ends up failing miserably, all I could do is take black pictures of the back of the lens cover

Anyway, o2 were great, replaced it the next day. I got the replacement yesterday. So far, Ive had to charge it twice! Why? Well, it freezes again, but this time, the camera lens light and button lights illuminate, and wont go out, the phone wont turn off or respond to key presses, it again needs a battery disconnect. Then it hangs up again soon enough.

They are sending another this week...

Am I wasting my time? Is this phone plagued with bugs and flaws? Software rev is R1CA037 BTW...

Should I try another handset? Any other people getting the same hassle?

Ive just read some more posts in the forum... Seems Im not the only one disappointed. Anyone here gonna tell me what to replace it with if (or WHEN!) the replacement proves just as big ridden?
The camera flash, I saw a mention of the flash sync being out, I assume this is proven? My indoor low light pics are all black. Seriously, it is TERRIBLE! My old 2MP W800 genuinely had better flash pics, with its inferior technologies. What's up with it? Some pics are geniunely just black, nothing is lit up by the flash!

@chombos1 - why ??? - the thing is supposed to have "auto" - for
what good that does

@thommo1 - you are not alone .... mine hasn't even been given the
ok for replacement by Orange yet (that's 10 days now !!!)

we shouldn't have to change the camera settings from "auto" at all.
this is poor on SE's part. The k800 and k810 when set to auto for the
camera settings worked almost flawlessly - the k850 on the other hand
is pretty dire.

I've found a sort of solution to the flash in that you have to keep everything
away from the back edge, even the slightest shadowing on the light sensor
will give you a poor, if at all, flash - not good at all !

More worrying still is that you appear to have the later firmware as well
this does not bode well .....

as this is already a repeat of existing threads I'll close this and suggest continuing in one of the various threads discussing K850 issues

members should read and reply to the existing threads before continually creating new ones for these same topics

thanks!
