I use a couple of SIMs and whenever I switch to the other, all my SMS are gone.

Is it normal for the SMS messages in the phone memory to disappear everytime you change SIM?

@ferr, I would like to believe so but don't you think the phonebook entries are as important as the SMS in terms of security?

Thanks anyway. At least I'm not alone with this I thought I'm the only one having this problem.

I sim swop alot, so when i get an sms i don`t want to loose,i use the save option which saves it to sim & it does`nt go when u sim swop, i like the auto remove thing when i swop cos it saves me having to delete sms i don`t want to keep.

there is a way around this... before you sim swap, use phonebackup from christersson.org to backup your sms... that way even if you lose them during the sim swap you can always put them back in. this is what i do when im meeting chicks and they fiddle around with my phone so they wont see my honey's sms he he he btw, do check out my homepage... just made a huge update... sign the guestbook why doncha...

@Tony - good for you cause I'm on the other side

I'd like to keep them even if I switch sims because deleting the is just a one step process comapared to saving all the SMS to SIM one by one.

Hmmmm, saving is only a case of a couple of button press`s after u read the sms. if you save ALL of em your going to fill up your phone.

Just FYI the T300 has the same "issue". I plugged in my friend's SIM (different provider) into my T300 and all my SMS were gone.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Lets be fair, SE can design a large sms capacity on your phone memory(we all want that) but have no control over network sim sms storage, so they have to be directed to the phone memory, now if they STAYED on there when you inserted a diff sim it would cause a big identity problem with which sms was associated with which number, i think SE has handled the phone/sim memory issues very well on this phone & as memory becomes larger on phones this system will be the only sensible way. in other words the only way to give you what your asking is to program the phone to put a copy onto the sim automatically every time, that would be permanent BUT you would be limited to sim capacity (about 10). & thats not enough nowdays.

@Nookie, that's how I'm doin it since I found out about the SMS disappearing act But I'm using phonebook & text message manager and I couldn't get the SMS back to my phone. I'll try the phonebackup. Thanks for the tip!

@pachy, I thought about that but if that's the case, why is it only applicable to SMS and not all of the data like Phonebook entries, Groups, etc.? I wish there's a notification or something that allows you to choose to enable or disable the auto deletion of SMS when changing SIMs
