none of the SE UIQ devices have ever had call recording built in

there have been 3rd party apps for P800, P900, P910 but none so far for UIQ3

I canīt believe that a simple device like a Motorola i560 Nextel can record calls and a monster like P1 canīt. Btw, Masseur, I didnīt know that there were call recording 3rd party apps for previous Pīs. I remember myself looking for it at every website and never found one. Can you give the a name please?. Thanks in advance.

Apparently there's no public api for recording a playing stream on the phone. Why.. who knows. Perhaps they just had too much work elsewhere on the phone. Or didn't think implementing the framework for an answering machine seemed like a very useful idea. (Imo, a good choice, but in any case..)

@sidneymarius, LivePVR is one that comes immediately to mind and when the P990 came out there was talk it was going to be ported to UIQ3 but it never happened

I believe that one is also available on S60 too

As far as I understand it(which isn't very far), that would either involve some sort of hack for a function not actually supported in UIQ3 at the moment. I've no idea how difficult it would be, but I'd guess very. And it would make it more or less impossible to use the recorder except in a way that would be hardcoded. Or, UIQ would have to include the function in the UIQ framework. So your best bet would be to pester UIQ tech. to include the function in future UIQ versions.
