So now the Nokia N82 is suddenly released and being shipped I wonder if sales of the K850i suddenly dwindle ...

The N82 loooks on paper to be very impressive ...
5Mpix+Xeon Flash .. AND WiFi AND GPS ... in a slimmer package than the K850i and it has a proper lens cover/protector ...
AND its a Nokia!

it looks as though, sony is loosing ground with its K850, when there are so many bugs, the time ain't just right to compete with nokia as the only 5MP camera from Sony line. at least for now.......

I would buy the Nokia any day. I bought a K850i and returned 3 before deciding to leave it. Worst phone i had in years for bugs. SE rushed this one out for Christmas cos of the competition already out and as a result its a mess. As well as the bugs its got a horrible keypad the phone is plasticky and attracts finger prints the usability is useless and those touch keys are rubbish. Whos idea was it to have that D pad. N82 will be great and yes Nokia phones have bugs too but not half as bad as some SE phones. Wonder what the Samsung G800 will be like with xenon flash and optical zoom.

I thought the same thing unless of course you are still partying!! read the Forum yes some people have a good one and by tweaking all the settings and doing everything perfect get some good pictures. But far to many are having serious problems, they are already on a second firmware but only on the phone not SEUS. Which means many people with the earlier Firmware can't update and are stuffed, some are on the 2nd 3d 4th or even 5th unit and that's a lot of returns for a flagship product.

Oh and it's not just bad pictures that is the problem either, some are blaming branding sorry that is rubbish the Networks tell SE what they want they don't write it SE supply it. How long has the K850 been out now with known problems their is a new firmware that fixes some but not all and it is still not on SEUS. This is an expensive device they expect better most are angry loyal SE fans. People choose Nokia not just because but instead of just a Camera phone they get a Multimedia Smart phone and if it has some minor bugs on release a new firmware gets released quickly. Why do SE take so long?

No one really knows if it will take better pictures than the K850 but with a Xenon flash the one true advantage Cybershots had has gone. I am willing to bet it has less problems on release and takes better point and shoot pictures straight away slightly over processed or not, than the K850 but then that's not really that hard now is it.

actually, your opinion is useless without facts, here's my opinion followed by facts:
N82 has both better camera and music than the so called k850, why?
1- it has a better camera because its sensor size is bigger, and it's tweaked over the N95's camera which already beaten the k850.
2- it has better music, because according to Eldar at MR, its sound quality is equal to the N81 which is better than all walkmans let alone a cybershot proven with RMAA tests.

If nokia don't have another N76 incident with lousy firmware and easy of paint peeling....it seem like a very good phone in spec. I mean N82.

But anyway I just feel that most phone being launched to market these days is hard to avoid from funny defect....whether it is hardware or software.

hope N82 get a good price which push K850 to lower pricing soon...since I won't change my preferred brand as I mean losing a power point at my house and work place for a nokia phone.

^^ A newcomer for the Elite 5MP group: as expected this thread will be born thereafter, then SE haters will infest this thread and talk about the issues on K850 - as the usual thing, History repeats itself

Dogmann:

are you sure K850 is RIP?

If Nokia has improved on the in-camera noise reduction and sharpening AND it is true what they are saying about low-light sensitivity then YES I would expect the N82 to kick the K850's buttocks! And in addition to this you have near DVD-quality video recording, Symbian S60 operating system and built-in GPS.

If Nokia doesn't screw up YET AGAIN on the software part of the camera. It is ironic that the N95 has a bigger image sensor than the K850 (1/2.5" Micron MT9P001 vs 1/2.8" Sony IMX020) but produces pictures everyone except the most fanatic Nokia groupies would agree are inferior to what the K850 produces.

^^ Sensor is still weak for a very high-spec'd camera smartphone N82, anyway if they use CCD sensor, their battery issue would be more of a major disaster! if only K850 uses CCD then i bet there will be no issue smoking out that N95 beats K850 image quality wise unless nokia could do their trick again to process it like a perfect sharp and noise free shots novice photographers liked to see and said this is better than the CCD K850!
