SE delivered my P5i testing unit just yesterday and I was shocked to find some amazing never before seen features! The phone is amazing, just as PeterKay has said in other threads... But he never mentioned the fact that it has a Time Machine!

See below for a picture I just took of the P5i:

While I love this feature, I can't help but think that SE could maybe have reduced the size of the Time Machine, as it makes it a little hard to pocket. Also, I feel it would have been better if they made the Time Machine a removable accessory, rather than a permanently attached feature.

I really wasn't expecting this from Sony Ericsson! As you can see it follows SE's current design ideas by making products look good. I think it looks fantastic... Even better when you get your hands on the real thing!

Enjoy!

Its got full forward and backward functionality and it even stops you going back in time too far that earth doesn't exist! You can set a date to go back to right down to what hour you arrive. This is easily done with the touch screen.

Apparently they're going to release a Christian version which goes back a few thousand years, and a Non-Christian version which can go back millions of years! Its still a little buggy though.

I want a pink version of that!
No really I do...

I bet it will be quite buggy at first, I feel for those who will use it before the first firmware. being stuck in some time period with a buggy firmware sucks...

Is it true what the rumors says about it having a coffe maker? a source of mine said so anyway...

Yeah almost happened to me just this morning. Luckily I was able to reboot and get back. Haven't tried any more time travel since, may do a bit more tomorrow. Will let you know how that goes!

Yep you're right about the coffee maker! Its in the Time Machine part of the phone. As time travel isn't the quickest way of getting around the place, they've fitted it with a comfy leather chair as you can see in the image, as well as a few other features to keep you entertained, like a full AM radio and a cake mixer. Presumably you'll be able to make a decent coffee cake.

Haven't heard or seen anything about a pink coloured one yet.

Why would you say that? The only place this should be is in the Sony Ericsson general section, because its no longer a rumour is it?

@ Muhummad-Oli:

I applaud your courage for leaking the pictures of this stunning piece of engineering before Peter Kay.

Since your beta-testing this unit, I'd like to know about the 'Flux Capacitor'; is it the old 64MB one from the P990i or the newer 128MB P1i one? Or even better a 256MB 'Flux Capacitor' would be quite nice.

Any word if this baby can play VHS tapes as well?

Thanks!

@Dextrr: Thanks! I was contemplating whether I should or not, but I had got sick of waiting for PeterKay to show some pics, so when my testing unit arrived, I thought, "hell why not?"

In regards to the flux capacitor, it is quite an upgrade over 128MB P1i unit. Its a 512MB one! I think you will be quite impressed with its power, although when the Time Machine is in use, there is not much memory left for other PDA features.

An interesting thing to note is that without using the Time Machine, SE has quoted a battery standby time of up to 3 months! Although I had to charge mine just an hour ago after heavy time travel use this morning. Interestingly, the flux capacitor uses 2 gigawatts of electricity to operate, almost twice that of the Time Machine in the film, Back to the Future!

I don't think it has VHS tape playing functionality. Sorry to disappoint you on that one!
