I hope people will understand what im trying to say. How do i make a pictur Example : ) so that the white part will show up as whatever the background colour will be? Its had to show an example here because the backgrund is alredy white, but if this picture is placed on somewhere with a black background, the background will be black.

yes i know what transparent means paul lol. But how do you make it so its transparent? Do you just make it white?

Yes. Well actually, most image editing apps allow you to use any colour as long as it's "solid", i.e. a single colour and not a graduated fill and that the colour does not appear anywhere in the part of the image that you want to keep opaque.

When you export the image as a gif or png, you tell the application which colour you want to make transparant. The "solid" colour is removed leaving you with the image you want to keep on a transparent background.

Lol theres a simple version of that, which i use at school alot in powerpoint !

Ok on photoshop, i save it as gif but its still not working. I have it set to transparent and interlaced (I think). Please tell me what im doin wrong! Grrr.

Have you selected which colour you wish to be transparent?

Another way is to use one of the the selection tools to select the portion of the image that you wish to keep and then choose 'invert selection' to select the background instead. Then, hit the 'delete key' to remove the background leaving it transparant (you will see the checkerboard pattern instead of the white background).

Then just export it as a .gif as you have already and it should work.

I can't be more specific because I use paint shop pro rather than photoshop but the actual process will be the same, it's just the menus and tools that are slightly different.
