Hello! I have a GPSlim 236 bluetooth unit, trying to connect it to my K800i (which i know is possible for basic GPS use). I goto 'my devices' do a new search, select device, enter pin 000 and its stored. BUT I have no idea how to connect it, its not automatic and what you select services it shows nothing, no way to connect.

Whats the trick? Has anyone here got a BT GPS unit working with a k800i? tried w880i and w800i. I got it to use with my p910i and tomtom but not got the p910i to test it with yet.

Anybody?!

once you have paired it the GPS will initiate the connection automatically when you turn it on.

you can allow it to connect automatically (rather than confirming each time) by going into bluetooth > paired devices > highlight the gps and click options

in options click allow connection and choose always allow

Thats what i thought, like with BT headset. Doesnt work, tried turning both on and off and it doesnt pick it up. Messed about with the allow connection too, but its simply not trying to connect. Reckon its broken?

But have you actually started any java program that uses gps after pairing?

My experience is that after paired, all gps programs also need to do a search first time used. After that the program will automatically connect if prevously paired and gps is turned on.

OK update, tried it on W800i and W880 and same again. tried a few gps progs and they say "no gps device connected" but i will try the one suggested, d/l as we speak - thank you.

Managed to get it connected to my mums laptop on BT, comes up a PP Slave i think it said. Blue light kept flashing tho when I had a feeling it would be on contantly when connected but thats not important yet, one thing at a time!

Will do some tests and reply soon. thanks for far peeps!

Ahhhh right, ok well thats the light thing sorted, dont think im ignorant - no manual with it and couldnt find it online so thanks for that. Its blinking every 3 seconds using Amaze program so it does work i think, just the program is rubbish.

Putting on a few more free ones Ive found. Just want basic Java stuff showing where Ive been, pref with an arrow pointing me back to my car or something. Its very james bond isnt it!

research continues. cant wait to get my P910i with tomtom!

yeah, amaze is not great but its free and so useful for testing GPS

here is the appropriate Holux support page so scroll down top GPSslim 236 and you'll find what you want in the way of manual, quick guide etc etc

thanks masseur for your help. Ok ive tried a few and while basic its been good to test its all working OK ready for my p910i and tomtom. In actual fact even on the Bond K800 its handy to set your position just so you know where you are should you need to rush back - very cool

I wonder how long we will have to wait to see GPS built in all mainstream phone - just like when BT took off. The future will be very very good yet its scary to think one day we will all be just dots on a map. Privacy is becoming a thing of the past.....

Anyway, cheers
