Hai all,
Should u buy S500i,Read this Review, hope this helps.

The keypad should be taken as a separate matter for consideration because of the very specific problem that should be cast a spotlight at - the keys tend to crack after a few days of usage. Let's dwell deeper into the problem. It's not a secret that the first variant of SonyEricsson S500i that was released to the market was the greenish black variant, but after numerous customer complaints and a rush of merchandise returns the manufacturer publicly admitted the fault and issued a service bulletin stating that every person experiencing such problems with their newly bought SE phones should be granted a free keypad replacement at the service centres
The glue between the pads and the buttons is only placed at the very centre point of each button, that means that the brims of the buttons are left without support and thus are prone to bending as well or you could accidentally hook a button with the fingernail.
Let's sum up some of the ideas listed above:
In fact, all color versions of the two models are susceptible to button cracking
It's the thin plastic that causes this and the alleged chemical reaction is only a side factor
The greenish black variant of SE S500i is best for looking at the button cracks due to a luckily matching color theme
Cracked buttons mean a good reason for having the keypad replaced for free at a service centre
For a replacement, you get a keypad made from the same lame plastic and it's hardly looks like SE will be providing their customers with a better kind of spare parts
Second case of Sony Ericsson having customer trouble because of freaky designer solutions. It's not just some plastic of a really low quality that cracks in no time, it's just the insufficient thickness of the buttons the makes them go that way
The image quality is average as compared to modern standards, the absence of auto focusing being critical to this aspect. The get good photos the environment should be well-lit, otherwise picture quality leaves much to be desired . Looks like Sony Ericsson doesn't consider camera quality a priority feature in this product line . That's quite normal for a mid-end phone but you could get a better camera for the same price, a plenty of such alternatives are available on the market today, for example Samsung phones . But again, if the camera isn't critical to you
The sound quality is average, higher frequencies are somewhat pitched up and the basses is a bit weak .
S500i produces an impression of a plain or even ill-designed image phone that fails to meet most of the requirements of its niche.
The cracking buttons is a very unpleasant matter, too, and it will take some time for the real seriousness of the issue to surface. Some of the flaws can be compensated by the modest price, but as of now, the price doesn't fully justify the undesired side effects.
We simply couldn't ignore the surprising fact that in spite of the moderate price, the handset can still be called overpriced . It's not expensive, but you can get a better phone for the same sum of money, comprising better specs, functionality, material quality and so on - just look at Samsung D900i, U600, E950.
The SE device fails any competition with the mentioned Samsung handsets, the only thing that could cheat a person into buying one is its original design. Honestly we can't recommend you buying it.
The target audience of S500i is deemed to be initially small, mostly limited to teenager girls, it's easily discovered by a look at the color schemes, the flower-like ornament, user themes and light effects. But the price policy of Sony Ericsson seems to have gone wrong with that one, the price just isn't right for that kind of customers. We can easily predict low sales. A direct competitor to this phone is Nokia 7373, the latter having better material quality, mild color scheme and less agressive lighting effects (this factor could repel much of Sony Ericsson's potential buyers). Another phone that fits this category well is Samsung E840, winning on the front of size, materials and the overall looks. Ironically, both competitive products cost even less.
there's no justified balance between what you are offered and the money you are asked for it. The same goes to S500i. Both are shamelessly overpriced. If you turn your head around you'll discover better offers, and that's exactly what we recommend. If Sony Ericsson revises their price policy and the prices of the two latest products drop
It's true that among the most important factors that influence a company's profits are the market analysis, monitoring of competitors' activities, examining the demand and, which is the most important, forecasting the real buying capability of the target audience to keep the prices in a bracket that would fit the real life. Otherwise the products are doomed to fail.

my wife has this phone and she loves it.
it seems to built around the same platform as the k800 as the screen is the same, runs k8 games and themes flawlessly.
the media player looks like it is walkman version 1 and the sound quality is good.
for the price you pay it is an excellent wee phone. |
