I'm wondering whether to get a T68 or wait for the 7650 to come along.
My priorities are are call quality and size. I have no need for games etc however calendar would be useful.
Now the T68 should fit the bill no problem but I've put off somewhat with the problems of slow SMS entry and poor T9 that you guys have reported. Also I think this whole waiting-for-MMS business is rediculous.
The 7650 is not that much bigger and a difference of 60g isn't really that much either. The whole thing is smaller and lighter than the T18s I had!

Some people on this list have actually used the 7650 and the T68 because they were given samples for their work.
Can any of you guys who have actually used it describe a comparison of the two ?

7650 is very big and very heavy, it looks more like a PDA than a mobile phone! You cannot compare it with the T68!

This Nokia is a dual-band, MMS phone. And won't come out until MMS is supported, as in here now, by the operators, and it isn't here yet. The T68 is available now, and can be upgraded when MMS is available. Search the forum, I remember there is a picture of the 7650 which shows it is bigger than what we think it is. If the T68 display is set to "large", it does not lag that much on T9, when compared to "small" text.

Exactly most of the colored screen phones that are coming out look more like PDAs and not like mobile phones (look at nokia 7650 and siemens SX45)so if your looking for a nice small light and a fully high tech phone then i think the T68 should most definetely cover your needs, only good thing that i like about the Nokia 7650 is the built in camera

You cant compare them,..as said before.

They're very different, as said before too.

7650 is a phone/pda mix. Its quite a lot bigger than the T-68,..
7650 is 154 gram
T-68 is 84 gram !
You should compare 7650 with Siemens SX45 or SOOX (new model).

If you want camera, more colors, pda-features, and if you dont need to have it in your shirt-pocket,..then buy the 7650...once it arrives.

If you want a small lightweight phone, with lots of features, which will fit in any pocket,..buy the T-68.

I think I would wait for the 7650. This weekend I tested a T68, and it did not impress me. If you don't use SMS it is an excellent phone, but if you are like most people you use SMS quite a lot and then it's a poor phone in my opinion. The T9 is very slow on T68. I tried writing a long message and the display did not keep up at all.
And the battery capacity does not seem to keep up with what it is supposed to give.
But I like the design and of course the colour screen. So all in all it depends what kind of user you are. I have only seen pictures and specs of 7650 so it is a bit difficult to compare.

JAC12 : When You say "most people", what do you mean by that

I dont write a lot of sms-messages,..and that goes for the people around me too.
people around me, use it as a business-phone, meaning using all the other features a lot more than sms.

Younger people tend to write a lot of sms-messages, compared to "older users".

Not a lot of the people I know, bought the T-68 because they wanted to write sms-messages.
They bought the phone because of all its features.

If the sms-part is that important,..and I know it is for some,..they should go with the Nokia phones,..they're faster.

Do you believe that 7650 will have better standby or talking time? The battery is the one used from 8210/8310. Add the voltage demand of the colour screen and the internal processor and you'll see. It will not have better standby or talking time. Also, I have to say that if the size doesn't really maters for you then 7650 will be good desicion. As far as t68 is concerned, the phone is better than any imagination. Its t9 is among the best I have ever seen. Lag is not a problem. I have posted my opinion about speed: The more complicated things are made, the reduction in speed will increase. Nokia 8310 which is a "normal" phone is at least 1 time slower than 8210. Handsets with many capabilities like T68 or I suppose the 7650 will get slower and slower in the future. The role of cellular phones is changing. It is not a simple mean of communication. Instead of writing a SMS you sent a picture that says everything! I am pretty sure that Nokia 7650 will be as slow as T68 or every other phone with these capabilities.

I agree with JH

The T68 is a business phone and not a kiddie phone. I use the SMS pretty frequently, ten to twelve messages a day; U.S. is not as sms crazy as Europe, at least not yet due to too many networks, and it works great with the latest upgrade. I have a beta version of the MMS version of the software and SMS is very quick.

The bottom line, a cell phone is like a watch, its all about tastes and preferences. SOme people will pay for a Rolex for mediocre timekeeping while other will purchase a Swatch for swiss accuracy. It comes down to personal preference and that's all.

Once problem I think everyone is having with the T68 is that Ericsson launched the phone with SW that was not perfect and we are all pointing out its defects, but overall the phone is great and does its job and the perk is that it turns heads. Especially in the U.S. where the phone has not been release yet.

JH, i think u might make a mistake there, the new model from Siemens is called LOOX instead of SOOX. and Pocket LOOX is a Pocket PC, it has no phone functionality!

and i totally agreed that teh 7650 is damn heavy and big if it is use solely as a phone. not bad for a PDA+phone thought... espcially the camera thing!

since there is many new phone coming out now with BT and colour screen, out choice certainly are more and T68, in my opinion is still the best looking around! dont u guys agree?

I will not deny that the 7650 is cool looking, and the fact that it has a camera is cool, however Nokia once again dissapoints with a dual mode phone. Nokia is fully aware that the US is in the process of converting to GSM, SO WHY THE HELL WOULDN'T THEY MAKE THE PHONE TRIBAND.

I forsee that the alliance between Sony and Ericsson will take market share away from Nokia, not to mention Ericsson's president, who wants Ericsson to get as much market share as possible.

Nokia keeps on producing phones that are all on the same platform and are getting old looking.

WHen was the last time you asked for Nokia phone and they told you that it was out of stock because of sales volumes.

I for one would not consider a phone that is not triband, I used to have only nokia phones then when to motorola ti250 (Only brought it because it was triband) now to a t68. I would have not brought a t68 if it was dual band depite it being the best phone out there.

I am sure than i am not the only one that thinks this way, Nokia will lose more and more people unless they start going to triband.
