One week into using my W910i - my thoughts |

Well I've had my W910i 1 week now and I thought I would let you all know how I've been getting on with it. I'm on the UK T-Mobile network (3G enabled). My initial impression of the phoen was WOW. It's small, slim and not at all heavy in the pocket. The screen is great and the walkman sounds good too.
24 Hours in to owning this phone I had to take it back for exchange as it would cut off 5 seconds in to any received call! The new phone is fine although occasionally it will cut off 5 seconds in to an outgoing call. This can be cured by switching of the 3G network setting so using GSM only. I think what is happening is that 3G is poor at my home location and as the 3G drops out I loose the call. I will try the phone in town where the 3G signal is 100%. On the subject of 3G - its mega fast!
By turning the 3G off battery life increases by at least 100% - important to me, although I would say battery life is still good for a phone of this style.
The camara is OK - nothing speacial. It takes fair pictures, but not a patch on my old K800i - but then I wouldnt expect it to.
The bluetooth seems to be nice and compatable with other devices. Ive had loads of problems getting phones to reliably talk to the BMW built in car kit in my car, but this phone does it first time everytime and so far hasnt crashed like almost all other newer phones.
All in all I am very pleased with the phone and would recomend it to all. |

Hi Gimboid,
Hey great pal keep up this practice of putting your thoughts on something, it will keep the other users aware of the pros and cons of using anything, everybody will believe you as you are saying something after taking practical experience!!!

I had the w850i prior to the W910i, I can say that the sound is much better and louder than in the W910i, speaker is poor though.
Also, FM seems to get a much stronger signal.

I've got my w910i for 3 weeks. Basicly i am ok with it, pretty much what i expected.
The speaker is really awful, which might be the tradeoff of the slim body. But with earphone it is not bad. FM reception is not very good.
And a bit slow using the MS.

can you compare the headset quality to another SE JP7 Phone

Thanks to everybody for your comments and questions to my first post. I will answer those questions I can. Firstly I would agree that the sound quality from the built in speaker is poor. The supplied headphones are Ok, but compared to my Sony MDR-EX71SL headphones they are lacking in top end and bottom end response. The MDR-EX71SL is an excellent set of headphones and to be fair to sony I wouldnt expect them to throw in a pair of headphones as good as these with a phone. However, I would recomend an upgrade from the supplied phones to something decent, you will really be able to tell the difference.
In terms of "loudness" - on full blast its pretty loud! I have only my Sony NW-HD3 walkman to compare it to and I would say the output on full was about the same. |

@gimboid
that's mean if I buy W910 + Sony MDR-EX71SL or hpm-83 (in the picture)
I will get more Loudness?! |

Further on the subject of "loudness" I think we need to clear up a few points so we know what we are all talking about.
Using a different pair of headphones to those supplied is unlikely to sound "louder". However, if the sensitivity (measured in db) is greater for the new phones than for those supplied then the music will be louder. I have no idea what the sensitivity of the supplied phones is, and even looking at my more expensive sony headphones none of the literature tells you the sensitivity of them. If you are looking for a super loud walkman then I suggest a phone is probably not the best option.
What is important to remember is that the improved audio quality I reffered to in my earlier post was with reference to audio range and clarity ie quality and not "loudness". generally speaking as you increase the volume the quality decreases.
I hope this helps explain?

mmmmmmmmm
but I think W700, W900, K750 are still phones and they are pretty loud with the Hpm-70 like the one come with W910........
I hope you had try W850 or W580 or W880 (all of them the same IMO) in the headset and compare them to W910 one
I will be very thank full with this info ......
W910 in my opinion has many drawbacks and the quality of the headset must be superb to make this phone successful as a WaLkMan......

Pop Lover, I can give you the answer you need as I have seen you ask this question SO many times.. but I believe people have answered it many times as well.
The quality of the phone's speaker isnt as rich as other phones (this is due to the slim profile of the phone)
However, sound through headset is good. Unless you're an audiophile and can tell the very minimalistic difference.
Sound through my DS970 is even great
Now stop asking |
