Hi guys

Recently I have read about tests and reviews that say 3G (384kbps) is the maximum dataspeed of K850 and the phone cannot exceed it! Is this really true or can k850 work on hsdpa-dataspeeds?!

actually..the speed depends on your network...make sure that you have a "H" logo and not the 3g one
you can always find one if you know where to look

Please see
http://www.mobilmagazine.com/[....]/20071026152039_MOB364.dbp.asp
(in English)

and

http://www.mobil.se/ArticlePa[....]teRoot=60030&iNote=60031#60031
(in swedish)

And according one test in Finland H-icon was shown but the speed was only 380 kbps while Motorola V6 was working with 880 kbps.

Can this really be true? I hope not...

Whats got to be taken into account is that it's shared bandwidth and therefore data traffic from other users can effect the speed of each test!

Well myself and couple of friends have the K850i on Vodafone uk and the HSDPA doesnt work at all except in Dorset where I got the 3+ symbol. I travel throughout the uk and this is the only place it has worked and also roamed on Vodafone ES and wouldnt use hsdpa there but my Samsung z720 worked fine as it does in the uk.
So im now thinking that this phone isnt actually HSDPA and SE have messed this up, same problem on W910i friend having same problem with no HSDPA

Well its interesting to note that 3 UK state and advertise that the K850i will not work on the their HSDPA network so looks like somebody has made a major error as its looking like this phone doesnt work at the increased speeds

Hi all,

Sorry to have to say this but the more i read and hear about the K850 and it's woes the less confidence i any longer have in SE for anything, just truly shocking for what was once such a great company dam you Sony what have you done to Ericsson and all it stood for.

OK, finally I have been able to test k850i dataspeed by myself and it really was 1 Mbps while H-icon on screen. So the case is closed.

@GUCCI.011, Ericsson was (not is) a great phone company (in some peoples eyes)

@Dogmann, Surely Sony Ericsson is a join venture, a separate entity from Ericsson and Sony, and as such, no positives, negatives or blame can be really attributed to one or other partner since it takes its own decisions on design, technology and marketing and especially after 7 years since they joined

but really, all this is off topic from the discussion of HSDPA in K850
