the most basic thing check the vol of wmp..see if it isn't muted..if sound comes from other apps then there isn't much problem..

I did everything I knew. The sound even doesn't come when I turn off or Turn on the computer.
Power DVD IS a application like windows media player.
See how funny thing happens.
When I play any song from windows media played it plays but sound doesn't come. And when I minimize and open POWER DVD the sound of song that was played on WMP comes!
And if I play another song in P-DVD SOUND OF BOTH THE SONG PLAY AT ONCE.
PLZ help its urgent. |

This is hilarious to say the least!
Anyways if the sound doesn't come while starting and shutting windows..then the best bet is to uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers..try that out...

If you're using Vista:
Click the volume icon in the taskbar
Select 'Mixer' at the bottom of the bar
Then check that WMP hasn't been muted or something.

No not using Vista. Its XP. PLZ be clear guys no sound has been muted. When you play .midi sound it gives sound. But when we play mp3 and video songs there's no sound. Do you know abt POWER DVD. Its application just like WMP. And if you open POWER DVD and minimize it without playing anything on it and play a song from WMA then it plays and gives sound. As you close Power DVD the sound in WMP also stops. Just worried guys. PLZ HELP. |

That's crazy..! Maybe your sound device settings were messed up so WMP can not play sounds, whereas PowerDVD may simply use DirectX drivers for sound playback, and thus manages to channel sounds correctly. Check Media Player settings to ensure you have "Default DirectSound Device" selected as the playback device. Go to "Tools" -> Preferences -> Devices -> Properties (Mine's not in English, but menu should be something like that). |

Well it sounds like a codec problem to me. Which version of WMP are you using?
Download the free version of winamp instead and see if that plays the offending mp3 files. They might work in WMP after that too..
Bear in mind that illegally downloaded mp3's are sometimes corrupt and won't play in any media player

Ok the problem is solved. Expert said that its a general problem. He reinstalled the Windows Media Player from back up files and also reinstalled sound driver or something like that. Both from back up. It was not a virus problem and said that similar way sometimes the colour May disappear and monitor may change to b/w screen. All we need to do is reinstall the colour from back up.
ANYWAY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT GUYS. |
