Has his phone been to service?? If the phone got updated and he had downloaded stuff to the card and given the card a password in the past now the phone will not remember the password since it has been updated.

Than the card will not be for any use anymore. He could try to type inn his pin code..

here's the trick. install third party apps like FEXPLORER or SELEQ. search

file MMCSTORE and open it by HEX viewer. it will show you the password of

your memory card.

Actually that's not true. The memory card is only formatted in fat32. FAT32 doesn't have file locking like NTFS. Mind you even if it did it would still be possible to format the card.

Well, I don't know for sure since I'm not familiar with the locking mechanism nokia use to prevent access to the memory card.

But I do know a bit about file systems and file system locking, and I can tell you there is no way you could "lock" a memory card in such a way it can't be reformatted or if necessary repartioned first then reformated.

Infact I'd be surprised if you couldn't see the info on the card and copy it to the computer by using a card reader. Of course if the Nokia locking mechanism encrypts files then the file probably can't be recovered, but you can still format the memory card.

Now, the Nokia phone itself may still lock access to the card, which would indicate it's not the card that is locked but the phone's access to the card. If this is a case and you can't remember the password, then you will need to master reset the phone.
