Gold Vs Grey |

Having a gold T68 may give you satisfaction from having an exclusive colour (snob effect). Gold T68s are quite rare but their demand is also much less than lunar grey colour.
Most people prefer the lunar grey especially in the UK. Prices of Gold T68 are higher (UK approx. +10%)in some countries depending on the exclusivity of the colour.
But in countrius such as UK, there is greater excess demand for lunar grey than gold! This means that it will be easier to sell your T68, but you will lose by having a less exclusive colour. But having a T68 whatever colour will sure impress you friends - It's like having a brand new Porsche in silver. Most Porsches are in silver. That doesnt make your car less impressive.
In the case of T68 colours, exclusivity is only significant amongst T68 owners! The average phone user would be very impressed by any T68 and would envy the owner.
Since the T68 is a high-end phone and will be for some time, having one in any colour will be relatively exclusive. Exclusivity is only vunarable if the phone is inexpensive and satisfied under most phone owners' bugdets (NOK33330) In such a case, the phone will quicly become widely owned and having a rare colour would make a significant increase in exclusivity (utility)
So i think once MMS is released, we will forget about 'which colour is better' and impress our friends with what our T68s can do!

Gold is not rare either here in DK.
We actually got more gold-versions in stores right now, than grey ones
And prices are the same too.

Yes, you are right. That's why i said some countries (UK)!!!
In the UK, gold colour is very low in demand unlike other countries.
Therefore, there is no rational for having gold colour like some users say.

I've seen this several times
Even got a friend who gave up nokia and bought it after playing around with it for a while. |

Yes it is hard if only 25% produced in gold. But what im trying to say is that the gold colour is much less in demand too, overall in the world! So the gold colour is not excessively demanded compared to grey colour, so prices remain same.
I think that if 25% gold are produced Supllied), there is only 30% demand (excess = 5%)
If 75% produced (supplied) in grey, there is 90% demand for colour (excess = 15%)
Thats why prices are more or less the same. But the gold is initially worth more as its more rare but is offset by the grey's higher excessive demand-prices become similar.

Does it really matter what colour your phone is?
If you like the gold one enough to be bothered to go out and find one then great, if not then it doesn't matter cos you can get a grey one easily.
Who cares what colour the phone is...
It kicks arse! |

I very much favoured the gold T68 over the grey. A superb phone like the T68 deserves a likewise exterior.
However, when I went out to buy one, in late November 2001, all gold T68s where sold out, though the grey were still available. Several salespeople told me the golden T68 are in much higher demand than the grey. This is true for the Netherlands.
Ultimately I had it shipped to me from Belgium, where some golden T68s were still in stock.
I agree, however, that the color of the phone is just a matter of personal taste.
The T68 rocks anyway, no matter the color!

Yes, look how much Grey "Lunatics" all over the forum, and how exclusive Golden owners we are, just a few, really is nice to see how small quantity of Gold around. |
