Just found some info at FCC:s database about SonyEricsson T306. It's a T300 with 800/1900 MHz for the american market. I think everything else is the same...

a tir band does not support 800mHz. so its a T300 whit only a dual band instead of a tri-band. |

By the way, the correct new GSM band for the US will be 850Mhz not 800.

Actually the original band was 900...then in Europe they ran out of Frequencies, so they had to create the 1800. In the US, the 900 and 1800 frequencies were already gone, so they created 1900. The problem with 1900 is that it does not penetrate buildings very well, and its also starting to get crowded in metropolitan areas. 850 also allows fewer towers that are more dispersed, so it becomes cheaper to cover more area.

There is a quad-band GPRS phone already announced. It looks very nice too.

And to all wondering about GSM 850, one thing to remember is that the 850 band allows current licensees of the 800MHz AMPS to reuse their license. Great for AT&T Wireless and Cingular who have only recently converted to GPRS and all they need is to change the hardware on current towers instead of building new ones. |
