Rogers branded W580i
NOT unlocked or unbranded.

So I connect my W580 to my PC this morning
to sync my Outlook appointments ... no SIM
in it (forgot it was in my W810) ... obviously
PC Suite complained that there was no SIM,
so I disconnected the phone from the PC
(there was NO "safely remove hardware" icon
at the bottom right of my PC desktop .. so
I disconnected the cabel, put the SIM in and
turn on the phone. The initial "Sony Ericsson"
logo is displayed, then an "OK" at the top left
(instead of the bottom left)
of the screen (like it's waiting for my unlock code)
I enter my unlock code and then nothing else.

Black screen, phone makes the key noise when I
press a key, and if I call it using a landline I get the
options "answer" or "busy", except, again, they are at the
top of the screen instead of the bottom.

If I choose "answer" I just get dead air. No sounds
heard on the landline or on the W580.

Any ideas ? (besides sending it into the service centre)

Hi

SEUS would help in this case. Give a go.

Try SEKING or some other free CID52 flashing software. remove the battery for 10-20 minutes and try again to flash the phone without the simcard.
Sony Ericsson software/hardware support!

SEKING ?
Never tried that.
I'll look for it.

Is that for updating Rogers branded firmware (like SEUS)
or for debranding ?

Not sure I want to debrand, all I need would be to void
the warranty at this point ....

Imo, you should take it to a service center.

I think you're right.
If it was unbranded I could just try reflashing it.
But
I've never even SEEN a Sony Ericsson service centre in
Montreal, Canada.
I'll probably have to call Rogers ....
