Remember that thread about the memory card standard cell phone manufacturers are buzzin' about?
Well remember how we mentioned that it would be great to have one charger for every phone?
Well, take a look at this, anyway:

I've been advocating the use of mini or micro USB as a standard for a long time now. All WM devices use this as well as many manufacturers listed in that article. My GPS uses it, my Sony walkman S203F only comes with a USB charging cable etc etc.

lets hope SE pick up on this soon!

I guess it would be possible to have a usb mini plug to fastport adapter, so that one can utilise the one cable for all needs. Much more compact for carrying around two or three devices, if the other two use usb mini plug cables.

the usb mini plug suffers badly from rough treatment, though I try to look after my equipment and have never had a problem with min plug ports myself. Fastport and pop port style plugs are more durable for rough and ready treatment in the general public, but they also suffer more connectivity issues compared to mini-plug ports

True, but a HTC/Imate charger doesnt work with the Blackberry or Motorola, but the Blackberry works on the Moto and then Moto doesnt work on Blackberry, so they all have USB inputs but dont work on all devices.

Good for us..
Along with the 'universal memory expansion standard',it will offer seamless migration from one manufacturer to other..

Durability of 10,000 cycles (mating/un-mating), extraction force of 8N (initial and after cycling), contact resistance of 30m Ohms (initial, 10m Ohms rise max. after cycling).
