Since W960 model was using the same OS with 8GB of internal memory, there is a probability that it can use 8GB M2 card, but since the card isn't out yet we will have to prove it due time...

It is able to hold 8Gb, but take note that the speed of an integrated memory drive varies from the speed of the card reader built in a phone. based from my experiences built in flash drives in mobile phones have faster read write cycles than memory card readers could(be it SD, M2, CF or XD)

so if you have bought an 8Gb and used it on P1 expect some speed limitations on the P1's MS reader

I remember that was a problem on old Nokias for recording video. The bigger th ememory card the slower it would be.

For my P1 whats the cut of point to which I wont get any negative effects by way of read/write speed? 4GB?

I've been using 4gb in my P1 since I got it when it first came out. I transfer large video files to/from the card and playback frequently and have seen nothing to suggest any lagging or slowness

I knew this question would eventually come up, just a matter of when I'm using an 8Gb Sony MS Duo Pro, no lagging here and I've got about half of it full. It's not a problem on the P990, so it shouldn't be a problem for P1 I guess

Well since internaly both P990 and P1 are the same,except for the extra 64mb ram the P1 has over P990 im sure a 8GB M2 would work just fine in a P1 if a MS DUO PRO 8GB is fine in a P990

Yes, 8gb m2 is not yet in the market. The thread author is just wondering whether it would be compatible to P1 when it does become available

Photoshopped?
P800 - P910i - P1i - and some non-P phones...

As i remember
1kb = 96bytes not 100bytes (which many people assume)
So
1mb=960kb
1gb=960mb
2gb=1,920mb
4gb=3,840mb
8gb=7,680mb

So, there is nothing wrong with that 8gb M2.
