anyone else who has a ds980 able to get the "auto volume "adjustment to work ? suposed to auto adjust when going into a noisy environment. i believe the 970 is suposed to have the same feature.
is this something that sony ericsson once again says it has, but just lied on the final product ?

DS-970 specs DO list this feature, as does DS-980
can't say I have ever noticed it myself and its not mentioned in either ones user guide so if its there then clearly its automatic and there is no settings for this feature

look at the ds970 page at sonyericsson.com it says specifically that the ds970 HAS auto volume adjustment. along WITH the 980.
i think this is another of their marketing ploys...if their web site says it on both items, and there is no setting and no one experienced it yet... then apparently they are once again lieing to consumers... |

oh how come i didn't notice Auto Volume Adjustment on the specs list of ds970 before.....hmm,if i did,i would have started this thread already........
well,no i haven't experience any automatic volume adjustments so far....it seems it is a lie,but i wonder how do they continue to lie,ds970 then ds980????? maybe no one complaind about it...
off topic...how it feels to have ds-980 ??? i believe it is far more classic and stylish in design than ds970

well.. i sent SE an email asking them about it.. lets see what they say.. probly more croak of S*** like they gave with the 990.
i bought the 970 off ebay for 40$ then realised it was junk bootleg... so i got my money back as well as post feedback saying its fake...
so i bought the new 980 at mobilecity online.... its really nice.. sound is great, the led is awesome.. can be paired with i think...10 different phones at the same time.. whatever phone has incoming call the 980 automatically switches to that phone.. and you can chose what phone to use when u outbound a call... i gess its not that great a feature unless you carry like 3 phones....
but i paid 100 for the 980.. so far def worth it... on my 4th charge cycle so far.. batterylife is about 4 hours... it should get better.. i hope.. but it charges in 2 hours.
only drawback i see is that they dont put a clip on the unit itself, to clip to your shirt if you want, and the cable cant disconnect from the unit. oh well.... |

nice,it's a real comfort to have such a gadget with you....
i see no needs to clip my ds970 to my shirt, but a portable earphone would have been nice....
let us know what SE would answer...

what a bull crap answer SE gave me, this is the same crap they tried pulling with the 990 when we had problems, there answer is always, "send it in to have it checked" they really are disgusting.
why would a brand new unit need to be reset and re-paired when it was just out of the box and paired?
>>>>
Dear Louis,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support.
You may want to first try to reset the HBH-DS980 by doing the following:
1. Turn the unit off.
2. Press and hold the on/off key until the display shows a headset next to two arrows up and down, and a phone icon.
3. Press and hold the on/off key and the call answer key at the same time until the headset is turned off.
You will need to re-pair the device.
When pairing, use the option to add handsfree.
If the issue is unresolved, you can have the unit exchanged under warranty.
You would need to send the unit in for analysis and it would be exchanged within about 5 business days of receiving it, providing the unit is in stock.

yup. they are so bad.
they hope that the thought of me sending the item into them will make me live wihtthe problem... and if i did, they would just say the item is bad and give me new one..
and if ihave a problem with that. they will tell me to send that one in...they will keep doing that till i get sick of sending it in and just deal with it..
thats terrible business practice... |

Product: Stereo Bluetooth? Headset HBH-DS970
Opinion: in DS-970's Overview page here : http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]emplate=pip1&zone=pp&pid=10394
it says that this device has Automatic Volume Adjustment facility...BUT neither in user's manual is this mentioned, nor in live usage is it noticeable...
and i'm not the only user who complains about this, none of DS-970 and even DS980 users have experienced Auto Volume Adjustment..
so why do you list Auto Volume Adjustment as a feature in overview page while the device doesn't offer it?????????
what is it called???
thanks
they're claiming as this facility does exist.

I am from Malaysia, recently i have bought a DS980. One of the feature that attract me to buy this product is the auto adjustment.
Unfortunately, I have like all of you that does not able to test out this feature in anyway. Therefore, I browse through sony ericsson website and get my local sony ericsson support hotline and decided to give them a call.
The answer I get is the auto volume adjustment is not like what we think that the volume will automatically adjust to a louder voice when we walk into a noisy environment.
Instead this is something related to echo cancellation and noise cancellation. That mean, when you actually on the phone and suddenly walk into a noisy environment (eg. mall), the handset will automatically reduce or cancel the surrounding noise so the other party which on the phone with you will still listen to you in very clear voice.
To be honest, I am kinda piss off when i get this answer from them. Is just like the term "Auto volume adjustment" is kinda misleading if they want to tide this to the noise cancelling function. |
