Just send a mail from any Mail Client. The receivers mail address must be in this format.... 9779801234567@sms.spicenepal.com This is applicable to MERO MOBILE CUSTOMERS ONLY. Above 977 is nepal's country code and 9801234567 is mobile number. You need to put your friend's mobile number in place of mine. Only INDIA AND UK?
The one I suggested is worldwide. Also heard that http://www.sms.ac provides free sms service but haven't tried yet. If you like country specific then there's also http://www.hamrosms.com which lets you send 5 sms per day to 4 countries(NEPAL,MALAYSIA,QATAR and SAUDI ARABIA)
But you need to register your mobile no first and then they will send you access code which you need everytime you send sms.

use http://www.stha.co.cc to send sms to ncell and ntc .free worldwide unlimited sms is also availabele there.
