Which is better? Should I wait for the p800? What is the difference between the two? |

They're both great devices, but both have their pros and cons.
It really comes down to your needs, and how much you're willing to pay.
Here you can read more about them, and get some viewpoints:

In short, 7650 wins in thirdpart apps, twice as fast sending on gprs, much faster hscsd, t9, smaller size, price.
P800 wins in almost everything else. |

What do you mean it wins on third part apps?? There will be ALOT of third part apps coming as soon as its released.
And about faster HSCSD, w00t??
Is it faster on the 7650? And what exactly are the differences?
This has alot to do with the operators as well.. for example in Norway, NetCom only support 28.8 as the fastest speed available, so in most cases the speed that the phone supports is usually not the speed you can get from your operator. p800 supports 3+1 or 2+2 when it comes to GPRS, correct me if I am wrong, so what does the 7650 support?
The way I see it the only thing that p800 lacks is T9, it wins over the 7650 on everything else!Oh, and dont forget that there are quite alot of ppl in here claiming it has some kind of predictive text recognition.. Guess we`ll have to wait and see when the final release is out! |

Sure the p800 will probably win in just about everything, but they aren't really in competition. 7650 is a smartphone whilst p800 is a phone/pda combo. Besides there'll be a price difference of about $300. Nokia will probably release a new communicator as an answer to the p800. And, @skjalg, there'll probably be quite some time before the p800 reaches the amount of third party apps available for the series 60. (That is if porting from symbian 6.1 to 7.0 will turn out to be too much of a hassle for developers).

Maybe there will be lots of apps for p800, there are lots for 7650.
Gprs on p800 4+1 on 7650 3+1/2+2
Hscsd on p800 28,8 on 7650 43,2. Vodafone Swe supports 43,2.
If p800 had t9 on virtual and real keypad, it would've been the greatest, but it hasn't. |

ok, thanks for clearing up the speed issue!
At least it is good to see that the p800 wins over the 7650 on sending through GPRS! Strange it doesnt support higher HSCSD though!
Anyway, the differences betweent the 7650 and the p800 are major.. I dont really see how 7650 can compete with the p800 in any way.. |

It's actually the sending that 7650 does twice as fast as p800, and that makes a big diff when sending photos.
I'm a bit devided, I've got a 7650 now, which I'm pleased with, but still the p800 seems far more advanced... Have to give it a go. |

I would go for the P800. They approx the same size and weight. But the P800 has a larger, better and brighter screen (TFT). AFAIK the 7650 uses a STN screen like the rest of Nokia phones and SE T68/T300.
Also the P800 has 12MB and the 7650 has 3.5MB. Besides the P800 can use memorystick duo. So you can have lots of memory.
Nokia 7650 has a lousy bluetooth implementation (doesn't support the headset profile).
7650 has T9 which P800 doesn't have. But on the other hand the P800 has a touch screen with handwriting recognition, which is a far superior way to entering text anyway.
Who uses HSCSD when you can use GPRS? If you use HSCSD, then you should probably go for the 7650. But GPRS is much cheaper.

Nope. The P800 screen is only larger, nothing more. AFAIK the P800 has a TFT PASSIVE matrix display, whilst the 7650 has an ACTIVE TFT display. Haven't tried the P800 yet, but I would think the 7650 screen is clearer/brighter.

OK the 7650 is better because you can buy it in your local phone shop & thats always a good feature. . But i`ts not the phone for me,i will get a p800, more or less the day it`s available. for LOADS of reasons & one of those reasons, which i might ad is always overlooked when arguing over the size, ie.which is the biggest 7650 or p800...when the keypad is removed from the p800 it`s a fair amount thinner, but when using the 7650 to write a sms it`s about 50mm longer, thats not just big, thats C**TING BIG. |

the 7650 is a first of its kind, the next will be 7650i and 3650.
the P800 is more advanced its an answer to the 7650 and motorola accoplia 008. its about every you need, i know i'm going for one. i've seen the 7650 and its good but not great i prefer my T68 whit accessoires. but the P800 is the best phone around. and the price will be 600€ that's not much about the same price as my T68 when it came out one year ago. what good is it when you have a 7650 en theres a 7650i comming out whit a bit more functions? the P800 is the best of all 3 nokia's not even the new communicator will kill it. and a touch screen thats one of the best things there is. |
