I know there is a lot to read but please do, I don’t understand what my phone is doing and I need help :s

My k750 keypad has been doing some rather weird stuff this morning and last night; to start with last night at about half ten I went onto MSN on my k750 and started to sign in although when I was typing my password my k750 was typing extra characters as well as the ones I was pressing so I could not enter my password leading me to remove my battery and then replaced it believing this could solve the problem...but it didn't.

I then started my phone again and got the normal 'enter pin' screen where I typed in my pin but when I pressed OK I got the message 'incorrect pin. remaining attempts 2' so I then retyped my pin and once again pressed OK, although this time as I pressed ok I saw the phone enter an extra character as it had been doing while signing into msn, leaving me with one more attempt to enter the correct pin. Taking no chances I took my sim out and put it in my trusty 3510i to enter the pin correctly which worked, so I then left the problem to this morning.

This morning I then used my 3510i to remove protection on my sim so no pin was required, I then put it back in my k750i which stared up so I could then test the keys. On the homescreen I pressed each key although some of the keys has different reactions to what they should, the keys with problems are shown below

Key Pressed : Key presses phone appears to see
:
3 : 3 then left soft key
6 : 6 then right soft key
9 : 9 then back
c : c then #
left soft key : 3 then left soft key
right soft key : 6 then right soft key

(All the other keys worked correctly)

As I didn’t know what was causing this I attempted to move all data stored on the phone to the memorystick so I could master reset and possibly reflash, although after this I returned to the homescreen to find all keys had started functioning correctly again, so I am now confused :s

I would appreciate it if anyone can help shed some light on the cause of this and possibly say if there is a chance of it happening again. (oh and thanks for reading this far without getting bored lol )

Why don t you take it to a service center? That look like a hardware problem, yor phone had contact with water recently?

Sounds like either a bit of moisture damage or a problem with the internal keypad PCB.

If you feel confident and competent enough, try taking your phone apart and giving the internals a good clean, take the white keypad PCB out and clean both it's contacts and the contacts on the phone's mainboard, and clear out any dust. Put the phone back together and see if that's solved the problem. It could also simply be that the keypad connector has worked loose - has the phone been dropped recently?

Dropped? tbh it has had a few, but it always seems to survive it But, no water damage.

When I take the fascia off the keyboard sort of folds out as it is connected into the PCB on the right hand side, could you please help me with removing it from the PCB, Thanks

What happens when you go into the service menu and do the keyboard test?

There is a dissasembly guide somewhere here on Esato and certainly over on SE-NSE but cant find them atm, have a good search and you should find it

It's fairly simple to do, just make sure the keypad is plugged back in properly when you put the phone back together.
