The UK's big five mobile phone firms have switched on a payment system that turns handsets into digital wallets.
Called PayForIt, the scheme is designed for those buying goods and services with a value of up to £10.

Mobile ticketing will enable party-goers to purchase tickets to a London nightclub via their mobile phone using payforIT, and to receive the tickets via SMS."

Is there any chance that this kinda technology will reach our South African shores. My country seems to be slow on the uptake when it comes to technological advancement.

I knew they were working on it. To pay your bus ticket, sigs and parking fee. But it never lived up.

2-3years ago i remember switching the channel to CNN, and they were talking about cellphones in Japan. Peoples phones carry some of their details. They followed one guy on his daily commute to work. To pay for a train ticket he simply waved the back of his phone over a lil device like what you do with an access card, didnt have to deal with a ticket machine, just swipe and get in. So its not too farfetched,it would realy be convenient, but realy risky at the same time.
