Ericsson know that we are all anxiously waiting for the R3A sofware - They are playing with our emotions!

But ericsson do not require to rush the release of MMS FW as operators, if any are currently supporting MMS! The only logical reason for ericsson being first in the race would be to show its technological superiority amongst it rivals, such as NOKIA.

As far as we know, there are no phones to be released in Q2 with MMS support built in. Ericsson know that they have their MMS almost ready and have generated much publicity about it.

Remember that as MMS is a network dependant application, networks require extensive testing and approval of the T68's MMS sofware. So perhaps a lot of testing is happening at the moment. If an application is lauched and there is nothing to support it (NET) then MMS support on the phone at that time is worth nothing. As MMS is much over-hyped, ericsson requires sufficient availibilty of networks supporting this feature, to show its maximum value.

But ericsson are forced to release R3A prior to network support for MMS as the photo album feature is very much anticipated with T68 owners. This will allow ericsson to prove its multimedia superiority worlwide.

Similarly, the nokia 7110 was the first official WAP phone. It was late to be released party due to buggy software and network problems supporting the phone. But nokia wanted to be the first WAP player, and decided to take an early lauch.
