Also, check the camera's ribbon cable, it could be this has got damaged or a tiny tear in it which would stop the camera working. Little square metal box just behind the rear housing cover. Should have a small black plastic piece coming out which is spring loaded for the switch. Can get replacements from CNN.cn cheap enough.
