i would like to start a thread for SE users that are using smart 3G prepaid service. who among you are satisfied costumers here?

i just bought my k610i primarily to access the 3g network of smart for those needed internet connections where there is really no free wifi network. i use it as a modem for my powerbook. i think its a better alternative for those who have a tight budget and want to avail of 3G services. Globe's visibility is way faster but is only available to postpaid, and the prepaid cards for wifi access are really quite expensive, 100 php for only an hour. smart's 10 pesos for 30 mins is really a winner!

so far so good.

are you a satisfied costumer?

i'm using k800i and v3x.,

for my k800i i'm using globe., i'm not satistisfied on their GPRS, 3g, Internet because its so expensive., 0.15php per kilobit. the onl;y thing i can use in there 3g services is video calling., i cant even stream live channels in globe(my config is correct)., and the 3g signal is weak.,

for my v3x i use smart.,
very cheap., only 10php for 30 mins and and for live channel streaming is on 15php per 30 mins., and has strong 3g signal., i'm satisfied with smart.

since I switched from Globe to Smart, I never looked back. I'm not even using 3G even if my SIM is 3G due to the fact that I'm still loving my K750i. Been using GPRS and I can always get by with my business and personal needs.

I'm planning to get a smart sim when i get my p990i. I'm not satisfied with the 3g coverage and service of globe. they charge per kb downloaded unlike the ones offered by smart. they got a new tv streaming being offered now.

i only have been in 3 places in where i used the smart 3g service, that is in panay avenue qc, starbucks silver city near tiendesitas and rockwel.

whwen you have just connected to the 3g service the connection will be a bit sluggish in the first 5 mins, but it gets better around 350-390kbps. in tiendesitas it was the slowest at 150kbps. but connection was ok.

i still pity those who still buy internet cards over the counter in starbucks. and when you look at them they have nice 3g phones... they should be educated that they can use this.

i think today., smart has the widest coverage of 3g because any where i go the 3g sign is not disappearing.,

Hi there,

Just a question guys, I am trying to make a video call on my P990i to a K610i but i am encountering some problems:

One is NUMBER ERROR. It always says number error each time i am trying to call.

Secondly is the VIDEO CALL COULD NOT BE SETUP. I cant understand why.

Note: My P990i and K610i MMS/GPRS/3G are setup properly. With a great signal. But i cant get through when making a Video Call. Can someone figure out something?.

Thanks,
Donn

you cannot do video calls if the person you are calling is from another network...

video calls are restricted to ones network only

hi. im having the same problem getting "video call could not be setup" message when trying to make video calls. but i can receive video calls. im using globe, anyway. i called globe and was referred to sony ericsson. they asked me to update the software, and if still no go, do a master reset. i already did those and still getting the same message.
