Is there a reason to get P1 and not the much cheaper nokia E65?
I am about to buy one of the two and I am trying to decide. What are the advantages of P1 and it costs so much more?
Thanks |

The 2 advantages of the P1i over the E65 is its larger touch screen and its 3.2mp camera. The E65 has more screen colours and the wifi is g compared to the P1is b

The e65 is also smaller and lighter, right? I guess you will pay for that with the worse battery life.
I am so confused... |

g is faster. It is 54Mbits/sec compared to 11 that b can support. |

i'd say the MAJOR difference between the 2 is touch-screen and camera, in order of importance. if you're used to touch-screen phones, then do get the p1i. however if you're more into calls and don't find data input a major concern, i would advice the e65.
if the camera is important to you, then again get the p1i. the camera in the e65 is rudimentary at most, and is only put there as an afterthought. not much use for image quality, though the pictures taken are legible for 'business' purposes. you can make out the details, but camera fans would find it very 'basic' and no use quality-wise.

the advantage of the G is not really the speed when it comes on a mobile phone, but the better compatibility between the WiFi G/B hotspots. since E65 uses the old nokia 220Mhz CPU, the Cpu do not allow the speed to exceed up to 11Mbps so the actual speed of WiFi between the P1 and the E65 will be similar with no clear speed advantange in either the two
The multimedia department of P1 is superior over E65 too. no need to name those things. price wise P1 is worth the added features it has

the data transfer rate is actually limited by software in the e65. you can change the settings, to overcome the 'throttle' on the speed. however, this sucks the life out of the battery. |

Based on your experience how do you expect the price of P1 to drop over the next couple of months? I am looking at priced at ebay right now and it seems that you you can get one around $550.
Thanks a lot for all your replies. I think I am heading towards P1. |

The E65 supports both WiFi b AND g, but the P1i would be better, especialy Multimedia wise, but since E65 is a s60 Symbian remember it has wider range of appz

I used to have an E65 and though it was a pretty good phone but in my opinion, smartphones that lack QWERTY and/or touschscreen are more or less the same as any dumphone. the lack of input methods really inhibits use of all "smart" functions. of course, most Nokia smartphone fans wont agree with that statement.

Of course, one of the main difference is the keyboard.
Typing a long email on the E65 would really be tiresome. I'm not saying you would write an essay on the P1i but you can type faster for much longer.
You should take that into account as well. If you expect to type emails, P1 would be better, if you're planning on reading only you could go for e65 (which I like for his form factor, really slim and small).
Hope it helps |

Also you should have a look at wm (tytn) style devices. The biggest drawback with P1i is not the relatively insane price (as with any new devices) but the lack of (free) software ! Tipping a email using t9 is quite fast (less buttons to press) and touch screen makes the screen/device even less usefull outdoors ! If you can test both devices under 'the circumstances' you'll use them later and then decide
