donjuan have you got this phone unregistered of the backberry system, since if you want to sell it on to anyone, it has to be unregistered, otherwise it won't work the blackberry part of the handset, if you sell it to anyone else. |

can you confirm if its unlocked/locked?
check with a sim card from a different provider maybe?

Not quite sure why the OS version is an issue as any OS can be loaded at anytime for free. And i can assure you each person prefer different OS....
