as I keep saying... anyone can post mobile related or interesting non mobile news in the forums, the job doesn't have to be just for one person.
create the news in the appropriate forum and anything that deserves to be on the front page will be posted their by one of us and credited to the original poster

@masseur
Perhaps something like the system employed by se-nse would be appropriate. Just like you said - instead of 'news people', the moderators, such as yourself just choose articles in which you think would be most appropriate for the front page.
Simple!

Agree with shal.
The idea that random people will post news and then they will be selected for front page can bring a sudden influx of unneeded or too many news articles.

But it's always been that way on Esato. People didn't stop posting their own findings just because axxxr was given a fancy avatar or two
Members always were and still are encouraged to post any relevant or interesting news that they might come across.

i can hardly imagine, that masseur would have time ( according the fact that atm he is the only active mod ) even to bother with the news, then select whicj id ok etc... imo its not the mods mission

Having once been a volunteer news reporter and moderator for a now defunct game reviews site, I have to agree with you to an extent...
But it's not that difficult nowadays. Much of it involves cutting and pasting!
And no, that's not the reason why the site no longer exists, they ran out of money

i am for the traditional way: mods have to mod, newsdirector to feed us with news etc etc etc dont like when everybody is doing everything, that leadids to chaos. do remember, when last year axr left and i also started to post news, made masseur really busy to del the rubbish i posted, cos i choose news what i found interested from my site, but a newsdirector can "talk" to the whole ( or almost the whole ) community, like a realy journalist... now thats the thing imo...

I really think that after years of reading Axxxr's news thread, I've been accustomed to his way of presenting the news. It would not be too difficult to find someone as much talented as him among your valued members. As Boba said 'mods have to mod, newsdirector to feed us with news' and in this way everyone's happy!! Someone should really post for this "JOB" of newsreporter.
(Im not talented,so frgt me )

Excerpt from Axxxr on the couch with Scotsboyuk:
Which websites do you use for gathering news?
axxxr says:
I don't go any particular sites as its more about constant searching for the right news item;Although i do use the usual news sources like Reuters,Yahoo news;bbc, google ect..But i have now devised a method of search through my now years of experience on esato where i can find pretty much what i'm looking for.
Is there any sort of process you use to decide, which news stories to post on Esato?
axxxr says:
Yes obviously i have to trawl through a lot of news articles to find which ones are worth posting and which are not.It can sometimes get quite frustrating..some of you here may think i mearly copy and paste articles but i can assure its much more than that. They is only a certain amount of mobile news out there.so it can be hard work searching. And sometimes a lot of articles don't have pictures to go along with them so that requires more time to look through even more sites..But hey thats my job.
Why did laffen approach you to be Esato's News Editor; can you tell us about it?
axxxr says:
Laffen just appreciated the articles i posting in the forums and simply asked me if i would like to be esato's news editor;which i gladly accepted.
End of excerpt.
I think Masseur's idea is the best. It will be a good way to audition the next news editor, in the same way as Axxxr got the job.

You have to remember that axxxr never applied for the 'job'. He just started posting his news findings to the forum on a regular basis and the moderators eventually started publishing some of his stories on the front page.
Which is exactly the same process as Masseur has already suggested earlier on in this thread.
No doubt there will be one member who has the dedication and talent for news reporting that axxxr did and will therefore become the new 'news reporter'. But there is no need to advertise for someone, it will just happen naturally as it did before
EDIT: Carkitter beat me to it!
